Ok Gents, because this somehow needs explaining... I know my FFB is clipping, because I set it there. Here’s my choice: play with light FFB and feel nothing or add some weight to the wheel and at least feel something. So I chose the latter. It depends on the car, for example the 911 GT3 Cup car I set the FFB strength lower but with the 488 I’ve resorted to cranking it up quite high. In general with iRacing I’ve yet to find a wheel combination which provides anything like the feedback I experience in real life... so I’ve given up trying on certain cars and just increase the force. Ok back to what you were doing 👍

Hey Dave, I watched your clips a while ago. You're totally right about the "attack" difference between ACC and iRacing. But a tip from my side (former iRacing Pro WCS driver), you need to utilize the brake more to turn the car in iRacing. iRacing, for whatever reason, relies much more on brake turning the car than every other sim. Personally from my perspective, as I work as instructor and also driving sportscars for a living, AC and ACC are more natural in the case of real driving style than iRacing, none the less each Sim offers a unique challenge and is therefore a beast of its own. Keep up with this content. Additional notes Side-by-Side comparison would be something that I like much more Same camera angels for every part of onboard cheers and have a great weekend!

Not only is the tire model in iRacing part of the issue (NTMv7 is much better), IMO they have the BoP on the Ferrari wrong. Air conditioning is a requirement in GT cars and in series like WEC and ELMS they even dictate the limit of the temperature inside the car. So those vents are there for a reason. But when I drive I hate it when it’s too cold in the car (ok it’s not that cold, usually around 30deg). When I raced in Suzuka last year the AC wasn’t working and it got over 50degC inside the car. You need a high end simulator equipment to get the 'slower' laptime / almost same comparison. Get in using VR and more FOV camera tweaks. Its very difficult but the satisfaction is far far away from GTS & ACC I recommend this :- Direct Drive SIMUCUBE 2 Ultimate Loadcell Pedals - eg Heusinkveld Sim Pedals Ultimate. OR Fanatec V3 at least Oculus VR and some Buttkickers
@DavidPerel5 жыл бұрын
None of these are necessary in my opinion. I spend a lot of time on high end rigs to help calibrate them and for me the only thing I need is a belt driven wheel on a stable platform. The rest is nice to have kit but nothing more. (In my opinion)

Correct David, I have a full motion sim, sprint pedals, Leo bodnor wheel basically 20k worth and I have just built a budget sim for a friend with fanatec v3 pedals TM T300RS and a rs1 chassis and I am just as fast with that setup as I am on my own

@DavidPerel5 жыл бұрын
And sometimes it feels like that too 😂
@whysoslow19995 жыл бұрын
youre kind of right. Good iRacing setups are always minimum tyre pressure (like 110 psi) and extremely loose suspension. Although that is changing a bit with NTMv7, which is the new tyre model they are rolling out a few cars at a time. Not in GT3 cars yet.
@bobbychilds30805 жыл бұрын

Are you referring to how still the drivers head is? I found the setting that changes how well the drivers head/neck absorbs bumps. Turned the setting right down and now theres loads of vibration when I drive the lotus 79. Obviously not as much vibration with tin tops

Nice one... I really think you slide less in real life then in the Sim... Also you seem to be more aggressive in the real car. It's like in the real car even in this video I can see there is more mass to the real car then the Sims... Weird.. And I watched this 6 times.. 🤔
@DavidPerel5 жыл бұрын
Yea I’m not sure why Sims exaggerate the sliding so much. Especially iRacing which requires you to be sooooooooo gentle to the point of frustration.

Wow, the gratuitous backfires on braking in ACC sound SOOOO lame. Especially because its the same looped sound effect every time.
@DavidPerel5 жыл бұрын
I have given them feedback on this effect, I think it will be removed from the 488 because in real life we don't have it. But some of the other cars do have a snap crackle pop, so maybe for those it's more relevant.

Yes, although in real life we probably sit a fraction lower and definitely further back. But I can’t go further back in both iRacing or ACC, it unleashes bugs which would make these videos flood with comments about the seat instead of the laps.

iRacing uses a 60hz FFB signal. Unfortunately turning up the FFB strength in an attempt to feel anything results in clipping. irFFB helps, but iRacing should have more FFB options, 60hz is basic at best. ACC uses a default 333hz signal and an excellent tire model/physics engine with a modern graphics engine (UE4).

@shebeski5 жыл бұрын
Also, to continue on just how badly you've set up iRacing, do you even have a direct drive wheel? If not, you shouldn't be using Linear mode period. I'm on a TS-PC racer and I can barely manage Linear mode because most of the driving input will then be too soft for most inputs outside of bashing curbs and crashes. Sure, it works and high speed high downforce corners will start to max the wheel out, but generally the low and medium forces aren't loud enough because Thrustmaster wheels don't have enough peak force to utilize Linear mode correctly. Linear was designed for wheels with like 10nm of force or more. No Thrustmaster as more than 6.4nm, so you're really gonna have to deal with softer over all forces if you run Linear. I know you're running linear because red bars don't show up otherwise. If you're on a Thrustmaster wheel of any kind, or on a CSL Elite and below, turn off Linear mode and it will bump up all the feedback of the low and medium forces but keep the max forces similar. Again, get your setup sorted, because your opinions on how iRacing feel are just cringe at this point.

The way I see it is that there’s almost no feedback anyway so I might as well turn up the weight of the steering to be closer to the Ferrari. At least I get some kind of feeling that way 😎

Your FFB in iRacing is clipping.
@DavidPerel5 жыл бұрын
I am aware;)
@whysoslow19995 жыл бұрын
@@DavidPerel i think that is making your opinion of iracing ffb being "dull" (which i agree with to some extent) even worse. When it is clipping, the FFB is COMPLETELY numb when youre turning. Its just a smooth force pulling the wheel towards the middle. If it wasnt clipping, you could feel some detail while turning.
@DavidPerel5 жыл бұрын
y e e t s as you’ve seen in previous videos my wheel isn’t clipping in those. So, I’m aware of what I’ve set it to mate, I promise.
@The_Devil_Riser5 жыл бұрын
The problem is that although racing drivers push the limits they also have many real officials watching their every move, in acc and more so iracing (because of the online nature) they can’t afford that so they have to find clever ways to implement track limits like on the old games when you would spin if you cut the track, obviously more advanced these days, and after writing that I’ve forgotten the point that I was getting to 🤪😂😂😂

@brandonryan95825 жыл бұрын
Yes it is, my stats on iRacing prove it, last years Le Mans 24, I set my best lap (with cheap thrustmaster pedals) a 3:56:500, when I got my new pedals and fanatec DD base, I went back to Le Mans and in my first practice session I did a 3:47:800. So idc what you say, cheap pedals equal cheap lap times
