I'm pretty sure Max has to keep about 30% of his attention on the porsche going next to him and 50% on the track to not get a cut which make his reaction window was only open at either: slightly right before he get in eau rouge where he can see the first car spin and predict the 2nd car would crash or barely right after he pass the crest in which I think he just react off after seeing the 2nd car fidget spinning to the middle which fits his reaction.

I noticed the same, all his time was made in the braking zones. also a tip for braking that I just learned , If the car has downshift protection just smash the downshift as soon as you start braking, I gained like 0.200 a lap and it makes the car more predictable. Also watch Max's downshifts he does the same .

As shown with Max (and I've kind of been noticing this in iRacing in general) because you're so much slower due to the rain, with rain tires equipped and without the track being super-ultra wet, the braking reference points are roughly equal to where they are with dry tires (on a dry track). Braking pressure is going to be much less than if it was dry (especially for non-ABS cars), but you can start braking at roughly the same point.

As you can see he isn‘t using the ideal line but is often one car width off at breaking zone and apex. Also in wet the highspeed is lower. But it‘s also important to train without abs in the wet, to know what the tires are able to handle while breaking.

Is Lewis's profile picture serious? ? ? It seems that this is a forwarding account rather than Verstappen's own account. There are two cases where the overtaking is not clean enough. Once, shortly after the start, Verstappen drove onto the grass and tried to overtake, but it was not a real overtaking area. If it were in reality, this would probably be punished. In addition, when overtaking the first place at the end, Verstappen hit the opponent and tried to squeeze him out of the track. The speed of the first place was not slow. But after being squeezed out, he fell behind.

I drove Spa three weeks ago with Manthey Racing in the 718 GT4RS Club Sport and I can’t believe how late Max is braking. I would never have the guts to brake that late in the rain (you have to brake earlier in the GT4 car than the GT3 car of course cause it lacks the same level of downforce but still wow). He is gaining so much time on the brakes. Of our 10 45 minute stints eight of them had crashes bringing out red flags and every single rain stint had a crash. Max’s driving at Spa is brilliant to watch. Textbook.
