I knew someone back in the 90s that had a full rally spec Stratos, if i remember correctly, he was one of 3 people that owned one in the uk at the time. He took me out in it, with the warning it's loud and has to be driven hard, as they just cant be driven any other way. Wow what a ride that was.

The smooth control of the steering wheel shows that this Lancia is safe in the hands of a truly great driver. People that are constantly jerking the wheel back and forth are causing sudden shock loads in the system between the wheel and the ground, making the loss of control a more than likely event. Look at Jackie Stewart's driving and his methods he has taught at his driving school.

That's the flywheel, it has holes in it making it "sing" with pitch changing depending on engine revs.
