Hello everyone.
This video is mostly about our weekly groceries. Our budget has recently been reduced from $350 to $200 (forgot to mention this in the video) in order to meet a savings goal by the end of next year.
We've been working on $200 per week for 5 weeks now, and it's been working out pretty nicely for us. We do, however, eat out once or twice a month, and our budget is adjusted accordingly.
We wanted to show you the cost of living in New Zealand because we all know that food and shelter are the two biggest drains on bank accounts haha.
I hope you enjoy!!!!

Love that you do the same thing I do before I go shopping for food! The only difference, is I go by myself to shop! I see that your bill at Pack n save was $154.83 and then there was $23.22 GST (is that sales tax?), for a total of $178.05. That would be $99.45 in U.S. Currency. We do not pay any tax on Food stuffs. The only thing I noticed that was more expensive than where we live, is the meat. The drum stick packets and beef would be a little less here. We don't live in California, so our groceries are a little cheaper than the other person that commented on this video. Here in the U.S., The more crowded the state is, the more expensive the food is. In some states, food is super cheap!! I buy groceries ever two weeks, and I don't put a budget on food for us, I just buy double of everything, and we have stuff twice in two weeks (like if we have tacos for Tuesday, we would have tacos the next Tuesday as well). That way, I only have to go shopping every two weeks. The reason why I don't put a budget on food is because I grew up so poor, that I often did not even get a lunch to take to school (and yes, other kids would make fun of me). There were no free lunches back then. Now if I spend a lot, then I use any remaining money to budget other things. Like No eating out, no junk food bought on impulse, no fancy coffee, and no extra things during those two weeks. So I will budget for clothes, toys, movies, and anything else...but, I will never budget for our food! Love you all family; God Bless you and manuia le vaiaso!! 🙏🏼💕🤗

Wow that’s incredible. Yes we do pay gst which is goods and services tax. We pay it on pretty much everything. So the prices that you see on the shelves of any supermarket here (that I know of) has gst included. I can only imagine the beauty of going to the supermarket without a set budget. We used to do that (but very poorly lol). I can definitely understand the states comparison. It makes sense that prices of stuff in California would be quite high. I watch a lot of KZbinrs that live in America when they showcase the prices of the goods at their supermarkets and always made me question our pricing system 😂 I love that idea. I tell you what, I have always thought to shop fortnightly. I must try that. Thank you for sharing. You’re such an incredible person. You and your family are a blessing ❤️

That GST price is outrageous!!!! $22 dollars for less than $180 worth of stuff! So glad my country doesn't charge GST. What a ripoff.

Hello Poi family, it took me back 30 yrs ago shopping, making ends meet! I have 3 boys and we moved to Brisbane when they were 6months 2 and 4 yrs. Looking back I wish we had brought land with a small house near a town, and worked hard to be free of debt. Instead our lives were a struggle even in Oz. Life has to be about being a happy family with a beautiful place to garden and may be learn to be as self sufficient as possible. What a joy to have enough and a small amount of debt. I know even though you are trying hard to manage your money etc. The system is set to keep you poor and working all those hours, and still only treading water. Be in charge, grow veggies, fruit, freeze and bottle produce. Be as independent on yourselves, not on the blinking rich over priced supermarkets. Be as prepared and debt free by making your plans. Other people do it so can you! You might find Living in the country hard at first but after 2 years you will be sitting pretty. God bless your future.

That’s a lovely message Debbie. I hope that others will see this too and take away an important message from it ❤️ Everything you pointed out are valuable. The living cost right now is insane and I know a lot of people are struggling to live within their means but find it challenging. The funny thing is, eating from your own grown vegetables and fruits are a luxury to many because of the cost that comes with buying with an average piece of land. Information is flowing freely more than ever because of technology so hopefully this kind of message will trigger the minds of many because it sure sat well with me ❤️❤️❤️ God bless 😊

@@poitubefamily4192 Thank you kind lady. It does seem urban life is a rat race, where as country type life, people look after each other and teach new comers how to grow plants etc. they share with each other. Neibours often become close family. With world events you will be better off in a community. We watch Country Calender and see the great progress NZ has made on the land. I'm sure your husband would be able to fund a good job. Thanks again for your encouragement, you are nice and young with plenty of vision for a very happy future. All the best!

Oh really? We honestly thought we’re being ripped off when compared to the American cost of living. We have a Costco in New Zealand now but in West Auckland. Will definitely visit sometime soon. You’re very welcome.

I agree about the music being too loud. You don’t need it because you have such a lovely voice, and you are very personable on the video. It’s more important to be able to hear what you said. Can you leave the final calculations on the video to run for a little longer so we can take in the numbers. Thanks heaps. Great video.

How much do we pay for a family house rent??
@poitubefamily4192
@poitubefamily4192 Жыл бұрын
It really depends on some factors like the region, the area and the number of rooms but they range from anywhere between $450 to $800 per week for a family house/unit/apartment in my region. I haven’t looked since 2019 so the pricing range is probably slightly higher than that mentioned.
