I think we can thank the swifties for the drop in egg prices. I didn't believe in the power, but they tweeted to Taylor Swift, who wasn't aware of how expensive they had gotten & and boom, she said she was on it. Next thing you know, egg prices were down. Like less than a week! It was crazy.

These videos are so satisfying. They really help with the anxiety that inflation has brought on with the larger hauls. Seeing the price differences between the smaller hauls and larger hauls can feel a bit overwhelming, but both are normal and they do average out. Buying the best buys where and when you can is really the best way to keep averaging that out and these videos are a great reminder of that.

Syrup: 1 part brown sugar 1 part white sugar 1 part water , heat on stove top til simmering. Remove from heat then add splash of vanilla. Or use 2 parts white sugar 1 part water and add molasses. I've been doing this for 13 years and refuse to pay for a plastic bottle with corn syrup and water.

I was curious how much protein I got in a day, so I made a list of everything I ate in a recent day. At the end of the day it totaled 99.1, which I thought was pretty good. Then I remembered a comment one of my doctors recently made. I had back surgery in Nov, then at my second post op appointment in December, the doctor said that I healed really well. With the number I came up with when I figured out how much I was getting in protein, I’m sure that was a big part of it. I used to work in a surgery clinic & the nurses always told the patients to be sure & eat lots of protein & it would help them heal & I typically try to do that myself if I’ve had surgery. It’s amazing what good nutrition does for our bodies.

RE Cauliflower, not sure if you knew this, but the green leaves on the side can be used similarly to cabbage. I know so many people that cut that part off and throw it away or compost it (which is great too), but you can do so much with it for yourself as well. When you’re trying to save money, it’s such a waste to not use that portion as food. Heck, you could even make sauerkraut or kimchi (both full of probiotics) or just use it in stir fry or add it to a bowl of ramen. So many uses! Also, yes, i like cauliflower raw dipped in ranch as well lol! fellow cajun texan here

I think I’ve been watching you for 3 to 4 years now. Just a guess, because I’ve lost all concept of time. Anyway, during this entire time I had been looking in my Kroger for the discount stuff. I never could find it. Being a night owl, I always shopped at night, a.k.a. after 9 PM. But six months ago I got a job where I was working overnights again. Which meant that (if I got out on time) I got out around 6:30 AM. Once I finally had a bit of cash, I started going from work directly to Kroger. And I finally found it! I finally found the discount, bakery items, discount meats, and discount salad mixes. I have yet to find any discount naan, but I stop there on the way home at least three times a week. My new chest freezer (7 cu ft) is nearly full of discount chicken, beef, bread, vegetables, broth, and even a little bit of guacamole. Every single thing in that freezer was no more than half price. So thank you for the many years of information! I’m pretty sure I’m set for the next year! 💙💙💙
