I really appreciate your approach & style; finding a KZbinr that doesn’t have the need to “ hear himself talk” with long & drawn out introductions & unnecessary music and graphics, is VERY NICE! You get right to it & stay on topic! Your editing & timing is great; your research is appreciated & how you present it, is great! You keep it interesting & keep the viewer engaged! It’s REFRESHING to find a KZbinr that knows “how to do it!”Really enjoy your channel ! THANK YOU!!!

Cool finds! I'm kind of curious. Do you go over the dirt extracted from these digs with a metal detector before filling in the hole? Seems the perfect place for people to lose small items out of their pockets...

I think the shorter wide bottle you found in the upper part of the first pit could have been a wine bottle (you showed a similar style in a later ad - late into the second pit) a brandy bottle, or possible a rum bottle. I say rum bottle as a short wide bodied bottle was preferred on ships as they did not tip over as a ship rolled and pitched. A navy tradition is that as a bottle is passed its slide not lifted off the table to avoid losing control off it, the bottle is then moved to the edge of the table, tipped to pour while maintaining contact with the table. The other part of this you never let go until its firmly in the hand of the next person. Nice finds, I admire your persistence.

Listerine advertised and was used in prescriptions by doctors for wound and cut care in 1890, I have notes requesting it saved by a drug store. Can still be used for that if you get the original, no flavonoids version. Prescriptions exist for it mixed with other things for gargle, mouth and throat issues. Now I’m curious if it was used in the gut and need to research it.

Where do you sell these? A store. Flea market. On line? I visit what was an old dump site along a river I fish. Every spring a little more of the riverbank gets erroded and some new bottles and broken kitchen ware is exposed. I like to find them. It's all machine made stuff but it's still neat. As a side note. In the early 1980's a couple guys were going around the village I lived in digging up the old outhouse sites. They dug the one on my moms property and the one on the old hotel site near us. I remember them finding a lot of stuff.

there are online markets (eg ebay), but I think most of the bottles are not worth a ton, but the adventure is neat. The experts spend some time studying old maps and plats, the privvies were often near the back of the property. They can probe the ground with spring-rod and sort of tell if the soil is softer, or if the rod is 'crunching' a bit (going through glass). Hopefully they let you keep some of the stuff from your moms property.

When the pits were dipped, where did they take the contents? Was there specific place it would go? Thank you for posting your videos. I really enjoy watching and learning about the older bottles. How much of the older china and dishware are you able to put back together. I’ve enjoyed seeing the ones you are able to mend.

H J Heinz bottle - 188 - (contract machine made) (~1920) held 8 ounces woozy (worcestershire) sauce - cork and glass stopper. A unique find in that the 8-sided shape usually goes with ketchups and other categories while the sauces came in rounds and ovals ... So either the database is wrong as to identity and this would be a ketchup.
@johnlord8337
@johnlord8337 Жыл бұрын
You definitely pulled up another anomaly in the foot bot category that is giving us fits. No maker's mark when there should be - and GLassy pulling up a 1900-1910 ketchup with a contract maker's mark that should only be a Heinz Sharpsburg. Keep digging !!!

Back in the 50's we bought a house way out in rural Indiana, there was no trash pickup so we had a place on the edge of the hill that we dumped our trash on, every once in a while, we would set it on fire. Perhaps in a hundred years someone will discover it.
