Thanks for making this video. I had never even heard of the Drivin’ Gear either until yesterday. So I decided to get on KZbin KNOWING that I would find a video on it. I didn’t realize that it was so rare, but then again, I guess that’s why I hadn’t ever heard of it. Yours was the first video I saw on it, and just watched it. Now I hope I can find one that shows someone actually playing with it, or maybe just an old commercial for it. We shall soon see! Again, thanks for sharing.

That Drivin' Gear set is so cool. The buttonless blisterpacks that came out in 1971 or 1972 showed the Drivin' Gear on the right side where the button used to be. I have a few of those blisterpacks (all opened), but I have seldom seen that Drivin Gear boxed set anywhere. They must not have sold very well, to be so rare today, and likely were only offered a short time.

@@HotWheelsTV I got lucky and recently acquired that Drivin' Gear set myself. But mine is not nearly as nice as yours. The box came with it, but the box is in poor condition, heavily worn and taped. And mine doesn't have the instructions and most of the paperwork. It does have an order form for parts and also part of a small ripped slip that says "We attached the cable for you......please adjust steering". That is the only message I can read on it other than 2A for the batteries needed. The battery compartment on mine was roached and I had to clean the battery residue out of it. Oddly, it also has the original decal sheet with all decals still intact, except for the gear shift decal, which was stuck on the unit. So I am undecided if I should put the decals on the unit or not. I'm leaning against it because original decals still on the sheet might be rare. Also they are not sticky anymore. I am not a big time collector and don't have many other redline accessories, or track sets, but I wanted this one. It just intrigued me I guess.

@@rjwalker4153 You are very lucky indeed! Way hard piece to find in any condition! Congratulations!!
@rjwalker4153 Жыл бұрын
@@HotWheelsTV Thanks. Another cool set I have become aware of (although not nearly as rare) is the 1969 Hot Wheels Factory set that came with injection heater, molds, and plastic tubes to make your own custom Hot Wheels. I was really into Hot Wheels as a kid in 1969 to the early 70's but I don't remember seeing that set. But that might be another set I might like to get.

It makes me wonder if that metal wire is the reason why they were not sold long, and likely pulled from the market. It 100% looks like an assassin's garrote wire. Can be so dangerous.

Stumbling upon your channel, I'm thinking of reliving my childhood hobby of collecting Hot Wheels. Lost all of my cars when I moved, but I still remember their exact names and colors. Started way back in 1999 when I played Hot Wheels: Turbo Racing in PS1. Hoping to start again when things get better here, and I've bookmarked all of the die cast cars and colors I've remembered from my childhood. I was always interested in their original designs and concept cars rather than those modeled after real production cars. So yeah, the Twin Mill II, Sol Aire CX4, Speed Blaster, Deora II to name a few of my childhood cars.

Hey Mike. First time I have seen one of your video's. Really like all of the info. Got a question. You see all of these channels on KZbin that get these big boxes of hotwheels, how do they get those boxes of all these hotwheels? I have looked everywhere and can not figure out how they do that. Can you explain how they get those boxes please? Great video thank you so much
@HotWheelsTV3 жыл бұрын
Hi James, a lot of the channels buy them from places like AandJtoys.com or other distributors. Some buy them from HotWheelsCollectors.com and others get them directly from Hot Wheels because they are Influencers who promote the product. I have episodes here that show the big boxes of product and how you can buy them. Like this one here kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYG9kGN-otOMrNU Let me know if that answers your question and thanx for watching!
