In the episode The Stable Boy, Regina mentions that Cora was the daughter of a miller. If anyone is familiar with the original rumpel story than Regina would technically be the baby that he lost because the miller's daughter guessed his name. Obviously the writers are gonna make it slightly different but in a way Rumpel was meant to own her. Very excited to see what their relationship is like before she becomes the evil queen :)

Regina never had a chance...heartless mom, boyfriend killed by mom, forced to marry w/o love to become queen and Rumpel pushing her towards the dark arts.

Many are theorizing Rumpel being Regina's father. In honesty, I don't think so. He said that their families has history/connections with each other. I can see him being related to Cora like a brother and he is a uncle to Regina. All we ever knew is Cora was lower class and when she got power she refused to go lower again. Does that sound familiar? Rumpel, he started off poor then gain power and he refused to return to poor again. So if they are family, I would consider them niece and uncle.

Everyone keeps commenting on how different Rumplestiltskin's voice is. Robert Carlyle mentioned that it's because he's lived for so long; in almost every scene with Rumple, he uses a slightly different voice. Apparently, Rumple's met so many people after being alive for over 300 years, who've made both good and bad impressions on him, that he finds himself mimicking their voices and styles of speaking and such.

Rumple being Regina's father?? No. He tried to get her killed on numerous occasions, he manipulated her, he abused her... One creepy lunatic of a parent to do all that is already more than she can handle. So hell no, he can't be her father. But in a way he did play sort of a demented and twisted parental role in her life. As for the line...Gosh, that was unsettling on so many levels. But then again, there were many scenes in this episode that weren't all flowers and rainbows.

being good didn't help her in ANYTHING. Her true love killed, forced to marry, her mom.. Then, when she started to use dark magic, things started to go a little better. I understand why she is like that.. poor Regina!
