Once Upon a Time is an American fantasy adventure drama television series that aired for seven seasons on ABC from October 23, 2011, to May 18, 2018. The action alternates between two main settings: a fantastical world where fairy tales happen; and a fictional seaside town in Maine called Storybrooke. The "real-world" part of the story unfolds with the characters of Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) and her 10-year-old son, Henry Mills (Jared S. Gilmore). Henry discovers the other people of the town are fairy-tale characters. The audience is shown the backstory of the town's people as fairy-tale characters, in conjunction with their unfolding stories in the "real-world". In the seventh and final season, the "real-world" portion of the story takes place in Seattle, Washington, in the fictitious neighborhood of "Hyperion Heights", with a new main narrative led by adult Henry (Andrew J. West), and his wife and daughter.
Once Upon a Time is created by Lost and Tron: Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. The core themes of the show are hope and optimism. Horowitz told The Hollywood Reporter that they had a conscious purpose to "do a show that had optimism at its heart", as they "felt like there was so much darkness in the world". Kitsis said: "We are guys who like to see the world as half-full, not half-empty", and it's about "seeing that among all the trials and tribulations of life, you can persevere and find light among the darkness";[2] "it's that ability to think your life will get better".[3] Star Jennifer Morrison told the Calgary Herald that it's a show about hope and positivity and connectivity, which "encourages people to believe in themselves and believe in the best versions of themselves and to have hope to have the life that they have."[4]
A spin-off series, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, consisting of 13 episodes featuring the title character of the 1865 novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, premiered on October 10, 2013, and concluded on April 3, 2014.[5]

Sometimes it's a thing where I don't like the character as a person, but I love them as a character, and then sometimes--when they're allowed to have character development--it's a thing where I'm sympathetic and love them as people despite their actions, and that makes it all the more enfuriating when they do make bad choices.

rediscovering this show I'm just. Poor Henry. No one wants to believe him, the only one who does is the evil stepmother, and he thinks his bio mom is on his side but no she's just pretending. Also, now I think about it, Henry isn't affected by the curse, so it must have been so nightmarish for him to see no one else aging?? Like the other kids he'd go to school with, they wouldn't age, right??? Imagine your best friend stays 6 forever while you keep aging. No wonder he could immediately believe the story. Had he just pointed to one of the younger kids and said they're supposed to be the same age but aren't would have helped I think. Unless Regina made up a bunch of fake kids to grow alongside Henry

Poor Henry, and then on top of it a bunch of the fandom hated on him/the actor playing him for honestly no good reason. Rewatching it I maintain that Henry deserves recognition for literally being smarter than every adult in town.

Why did the people hate Henry. He was the only teen in the show who grew up from kid to adult. He should have had more friends like Christopher robin or sora from kingdom hearts though square probably wouldn’t let the show use sora

I like how Emma's son keeps asking her if she thinks he's crazy and I did not expect her to get arrested for "stealing" the files when really the guy gave her them and also when she cut down the teacher's apple trees as well.

I think the reason 2:44 frames Henry going to therapy is bad is because Regina is basically trying to gaslight him into thinking he's "crazy" and that HE is the one who needs help, not the cursed people. Honestly poor Henry 😞

The show adds its own takes to the these original stories and that can be extra confusing for someone like me who isn't that familiar with fairly tales to begin with. 22 episodes for 7 seasons is overwheming me already lol, I had to take a break. It is fun tho.
