Once upon a time in the west - Ennio Morricone - Guitar instrumental by Dave Monk

"Once Upon a Time in the West" is a fabulous soundtrack composed by Ennio Morricone, from the "Once Upon a Time in the West" western film of the same name directed by Sergio Leone, released in 1968. The film score is one of the top 5 best-selling original instrumental scores in the world today, and sold about 10 million copies worldwide.
I can understand why. It's a real masterpiece. I have heard a couple of superb versions on KZbin, namely by Ernst (BurnsErnst) and Dave (Trapanner) that are inspiring.

It takes a lot of years to get to the point where you can play so simply. Every note he plays is like a sonic pearl. Young guitarists often think they are great because they can play a zillion notes a second.

It’s what I call “musicality versus musicagility”. Many of today’s speed pickers have no musicality and could not play a tuneful melody on request. Take Duane Eddy: His mastery of timing and touch has had many guitar stars admitting they cannot reproduce his sound despite the apparent simplicity of the picking.

This is my favorite music of all time. I heard this music fifty years ago for the first time when I was 18 years old staying in a friend's apartment un Paris aline by myself. Everytime I heard and/or listened to this music, tears always ran down from eyes. The music was beautiful and also as sad the movie itself.

Hi Ernst, When I heard your version and Dave's version, I knew I had to do it. It is such a hauntingly beautiful tune. I found it much harder to play than I expected. My favorite song of them all and does Dave do a job with it? Most beautiful! How many songs does he know? Must be hundreds of them! I'm eighty five and know most of them but to know how to play them! That's a horse of a different color!! I watch and listen to ALL of the music Dave puts Out. I think he is a master of the guitar. I just came across your reply to my comments about the song " Once Upon a Time in the West" , I lost it on the iPad here, I'm not too good at the computers stuff and it doesn't take much for me to lose things. I can imagine you would let some of the song pass, that is a load of songs to know how to play them, not to just play but have them recognized immediately. Some musicians will play a song but it takes fifteen minutes to recognize what song it's supposed to be. By your spelling of the word "favorite" tells me your in England or Canada. No matter, as long as the songs keep coming this way. Thanks again and sorry for the long delay in answering.
