E la cosa incredibile è, che io essendo Italiano e un bambino ai tempi degli spaghetti western, per me era una cosa abbastanza normale e abituale sentire queste musiche di Morricone. The finest Western ever made, in my opinion. If Shakespeare wrote a Western, this would be it. A brilliant story, incredible soundtrack, breathtaking cinematography, and the most under rated director of all time - Sergio Leone - milking every ounce of power and glory and heartbreak out of every scene. And then there's Henry Fonda, in one of the greatest performances of his career as the icy killer Frank. And yes, Claudia Cardinale, one of film's greatest beauties. And Bronson at his best, and Jason Robards, and all those amazing faces that fill up the canvas. No one will ever equal this.

My favorite movie of all time. Everything worked. Henry Fonda as the most evil character in any movie I have seen (my humble opinion), Charles Bronson, perfect as Harmonica, Jason Robards scoring as Cheyenne and Claudia Cardinale making so much out of a subservient role. And Mr. Morricone's score ties it all together, esp. the showdown and final scene. Movie making at its best and am glad so many others have enjoyed this film as much as I have

This entire movie is like a classic painting, or a Mathew Brady photograph, captured in time, in sepia tone shades. The ending is indeed sad, and tragic. But this is what makes this a classic opera transposed onto a film for the ages. Sad, yet beautiful and and a true piece of the film makers art. This film will never be surpassed, in these areas.

Simply the best western ever. The scale of everything, sound track, awesome storyline. Henry Fonda in his opening scene still sends shivers down my spine, piercing eyes and such a cold execution.

Holy shit. I just watched this and it's probably the best movie I have ever saw. I don't usually watch westerns, but this is something else. Allot of effort went into this film and it's easy to see. You just don't get films like this nower days. What a masterpiece.

welcome, now you are part of those who realize how Morricone and Leone deserves a special place in history, Morricone is still with us and I really think he didn't get enough payback for what he gave to all of us.

Yes, it is. When it first came out in 1968, it did not get the recognition it deserved. At the time, I could not understand. I was mesmerized by the movie and the complete soundtrack. (Some of the music was played at our wedding.) As the years go by, the movie grows more and more as a Masterpiece which it so deserves.

The Velvet and Beautiful voice of the great Italian Soprano Ms. Edda Dell' Orso's voice rises above the orchestra as though it reaches the Heavens...Just Beautiful. One of the greatest musical scores ever written for a movie by the late Great Italian Maestro Legendary Ennio Morricone. The great music score helped to make this the Greatest Western Movie ever made. Priceless!

So were Henry Fonda and Jason Robards. Both were combat veterans of WW2 in the US Navy. Fonda received the Bronze Star. Robards survived having served on one ship sank by Japanese torpedoes and another hit by Kamikaze which killed 223 of his shipmates. Practically, all the actors of that era were WW2 veterans and that includes Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach.

Yeah, all the main stars in Leone's Spaghetti Westerns were military veterans from Clint to Bronson to Van Cleef to Fonda to Steiger. Maybe that was one of the requirements lol.
