Hello my fna came back hurtle cell type with no definite invasion or malignancy. Does that mean they just don’t know or it’s nothing?

Hi. Thank you for the question. Thyroid FNA is a cytological method, and cannot confirm or exclude invasion in case of follicular neoplasm. Diagnostic FNA categories only statistically describe risk of malignancy (ideally based on local institutional metrics, which can differ in different countries and in different hospitals). Clinical decision is usually based on correlation with imaging, clinical history, clinical course, laboratory results etc. I would recommend to talk to your doctor for specific details.
