Great video! What row spacing do you use at the One Acre vineyard, and the Yountville site?

Hi Troy It is very nice to hear from you, thank you for your message. At both vineyards I used a 4 x 4 spacing, The vines in the rows are 4' apart and the distance from on roe to the next is 4'. It is a little too tight to use a tractor, so I just use a lawn mower. Glad to hear you enjoyed the videos, just wanted to share a little of what helped me. Thanks again Dave

oneacrewine Thanks for your response! I absolutely love your videos. They are amazingly informative and I swear they should be made into a special on TV :) What orientation are your rows at both sites? North-south or east-west? Do you find that the 4x4 spacing is ok. I've been reading things online saying that 8 foot row spacing is recommended but you have half of that! Not saying your way is wrong, but do you have any troubles with sun exposure or shading with rows that close? Any recommendations are appreciated. I'm continuing work on my own hobby vineyard. Also, any recommendations on websites/suppliers for vineyard supplies like catchwire posts, wire, fasteners? Thanks so much Dave

Troy Larimer Hi Troy Glad to hear you like the videos, not sure we are ready for TV, but my friend Adam the cameraman did talk about it a little. The rows both in the Oak Knoll vineyard and the Yountville Vineyard and oriented East West. I like that row orientation because of the protection it provides for the summer sun. An I then remove the leaves around the fruit on the north side of the E / W rows. When I 1st started I put in 4x4 at the Oak Knoll vineyard, just based on the number of vines I had and how much land. Which has worked out fine for me, and I later found out it was very similar to the way some of the french vineyards are laid out being a meter by a meter for spacing. The plants are a bit more stressed but it helps naturally slow them down and reduce the vigor on the fertile valley soils. So it can depend or the soil type on the vineyard. Great to hear about your vineyard, if you had time, it nice see some pictures as you progress along, and I will see about some suppliers too Thanks again Dave
