Those subs are rated at 1125W at 20Hz. It takes about 1,600W to reach XMax at 20. When I had a Fi IB3 18 installed in trunk baffle it would hit 60 on an SQ tune, but it started to fall off at 40 for SQL. This time with the OA 18's I'm putting in a front sub to pick up that missing bass.

I love bass just as much as the next guy, but it’s all fun and games until the ear ringing starts. Before you know it, you’ll reach a point where it NEVER goes away and it’s totally miserable. 24/7 ear ringing and you NEVER not hear it or get used to it. Once it sets in and the damage is done, there’s no going back and there are no treatments or cures. Be careful my friends.

Very nice! Thanks for your videos explaining the IB mystery. I'm importing to UK 2x Stereo integrity Ib24 subs and plan to put them to fiat 500. I want to have both SQ L ans SPL. This will be my first infinite baffle project. Do you think it's an overkill and I will not be able to play ultra low (10hz) because of a small car or will it be quite impressive low hz playing project? Nick from Stereo integrity thinks it will be a bomb.
@RAW-CAt7 ай бұрын
I personally think that it will be very difficult to get the very low end without some help from DSP. Your car will effectively be as an undersized enclosure.. But that is just my guess. Better still, ask Peter or Laimonas as I imagine his Amarok cabin is similar size to your fiat. And he had 2x18s in there.

@alex.G.R.Z- Those (2)- Stereo Integrity IB 24" subwoofers, will have no prob. playing 10Hz, as long as nothing in your audio system limits low freq.. Like subsonic filters, amplifier bandwidth, source limitations, or any other cross overs, that maybe in a bass restorer unit. Example: Audio controls regular epicenter, is set from the factory, to start cutting off @ 32 or 33Hz. Some of there units have adjustable Pfm chips that you can buy, to change that freq. Cutoff point, and some you cannot= its a fixed= a non adjustable unit/model. What amplifier model, and impedance do you plan on using, to power these (2)- 24" subwoofers? You can never have too much low freq. Output IMO, because you can always turn the output down, but if its not enough, you just can't keep turning it up, if there is no more!

@@evilinside5984 thanks for the info. I will be using Stereo integrity amps. 2 x siq1500.1. Subs are 2x 2ohm so will be playing at 1ohm making the most of the amps. Just head unit and the amps. So no additional crossover- just the ones in headunit.

I personally will never understand this full/half bridge debate🤷 It's an amplifier that does it's job. I don't like the fans on my smart 3. As I am barely pushing it, I will disconnect them. Wow, nice set up, I am literally just starting to tune my car, my specs are, Focal K2 power comp up front Focal K2 power coax for rear fill Alpine type rw12d2 in generic ported box(quite big tuned to 34hz, maybe) DLS CC-44 running bridged for fronts(220w per channel). Pioneer GM D8604 bridged for the rear(300w per channel) Pionner GM D970 1running at 1ohm so getting 1200w. Alpine CDE 296BT head unit At the mo I am just running off the head unit with front and rears crossed at 63hz and the sub at 63 hz, and are at the moment passive because I did not want to go through the electrical plugs in the doors to run wire for active system, this is the biggest drawback of the system so far. It sounds really good but have not really begun tuning because of the upgrades I have need some planning to implement. Planned upgrades are Dayton audio Ultimax UM15 in the 3.1 cubic ft sealed box and an Audio Dynamics AD DSP68, I also have a Dayton iMM-6 and REW to do some measurements. Looking at your set up I would love to put the sub in IB config in the wheel well as my car is one without a spare. Love your work and binge'ing all your vids to get the best from my set up, I really need to go active with the front end but am a bit scared to cut into the dash, although I may get some second hand pillars to try and make some pods for the tweeters and really should go three way up front but the chances of getting the focal K2 mid's on their own is pretty slim I rekon so may have to think of a different solution, I am tempted to try the little Faital pro mid that you have used as a temporary solution. hey There. enjoy your content! I just purchased the same OA ib3 18” sub 2ohm svc and I was considering putting the Helix P One @ 2ohm load. I would go with something way bigger. I mean it will be fine, you will get plenty of output, but if you want to use the full potential of the sub, go with something at least 1500W at 2ohms.

Why infinite baffle? Seems like a noise pollution flex for no good reason. Love the content just don't understand why you didn't just do a seal box with some dsp tweaks
@RAW-CAt7 ай бұрын
Well one of the reasons is that I don't need a box at all. A box, even sealed for a single 18 would take to whole boot space .
@JoshM77 ай бұрын
I also have a infinite baffle 18. The way I installed it I have 98% of my trunk space. If I did sealed. I'd have 10% of my trunk space. And would need more power to play the lower frequencies. Tradeoffs.

All depends on the person. If 8in is enough for you. Cool. Also some people might need more than 5 channels for things like 3 ways or other configs. If by "actual car stereo "you're referring to speakers in doors and/or rear deck then that's a pretty boring and lacking setup.

@@thedraftdoctor1 so the way this works is subwoofers such as a 12-inch that's only being used about 15 to 25% of its capability it's not only a waste of space but a waste of money far more practical is a smaller driver running at 80% of its output occupying less space less expense and raising the efficiency of the system some of you people need to get in contact with reality.. .
