I appreciate that you started the video by showing how the shawl will be worked. I wish all presenters would include this info. I like to know where I'm going. I love the color combo of your yarn selection.

All - In response to the feedback I've received, I've posted a slower version of this tutorial which you can see at kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYPLdaOVjMyheqM (time: 8:20). My goal is to produce truly helpful videos, so I welcome your feedback.

Thank you. I was wondering if you crocheted into the chain one spaces, so I went and read through the pattern. Can’t wait to make one for a christmas present. I am using the color tiramisu

Thank you, this is so pretty! Hope you will do more tutorials. In the future, maybe slow down just a tad though. My printer isn't working at the moment and I have to depend on tutorials for the pattern, so a bit slower would be helpful!

Terri - I've gotten that feedback from others and will slow down in future videos. I'm still new at this. In the meantime, there are photos with the written pattern: spoonsandhooks.com/2017/09/22/one-big-cake-shawl-scarf. Hope this helps.

Hello I have tried and retried doing this along with you, but after you stopped and we had to repeat the rows mine keeps going into the shape of a bell not a triangle. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Oh well on to finding another project, but i did like this.
@philomenameyer38127 жыл бұрын
Very pretty.

Hello again I have to say I got kinda confused following along with you. On the solid row you said put one dbl on top of each dbl from the previous row, but on the written pattern there it says to also put a dbl through the ch1 space . Now that I am doing as the written pattern says My shawl scarf is going into the shape of a triangle so by doing a dbl in the ch1 spaces on the solid rows am I doing this correctly?
@SpoonsHooks7 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is correct. You should see this in the photos included with the written pattern.

Question. My cake ball said use size 5mm(h) hook. Should I use the hook you said to or what the yarn says to?
@SpoonsHooks7 жыл бұрын
Hi Iris - As I describe in the blog post that accompanies the written pattern (spoonsandhooks.com/2017/09/22/one-big-cake-shawl-scarf/), while the label calls for a size H (5mm) hook, I felt that was too small for this pattern because the resulting fabric was too stiff. Through experimentation I found that a size K (6.5mm) hook worked much better. However, feel free to experiment and figure out what works for you. Good luck!
@Septcrafter7 жыл бұрын
How many rows did you do to make the example?
@SpoonsHooks7 жыл бұрын
The finished shawl scarf shown in the video has 36 rows.
@Septcrafter7 жыл бұрын
Spoons & Hooks thank you. Row 36 would be the solid row of double crochets?
@SpoonsHooks7 жыл бұрын
That is correct - even-numbered rows are always solid rows. Did you see the written pattern linked in the video description, spoonsandhooks.com/2017/09/22/one-big-cake-shawl-scarf?
@MamaSwede2 жыл бұрын
This goes way too fast and not being told what every stitch is. This for a beginner like myself unable to do this. I put it on as slow as KZbin lets me and watched and rewatched over and over and still messed up as it looks nothing like a triangle in the beginning.

Pretty pattern but moved so fast I couldn't follow, even after replaying many times. 😔

Did you look at the written pattern that was linked in the video description? That might help: spoonsandhooks.com/2017/09/22/one-big-cake-shawl-scarf/

Spoons & Hooks I watch videos cuz I can't read patterns.

I agree. It's way too fast for me too. I've already tried rewinding it so many times and I'm still having a hard time following. I can't read patterns as well. :-(

Keressa - thanks for the feedback. Although I've made a lot of videos in general, I've only made a few crochet tutorials and am still experimenting with techniques. In the meantime, you can see the written pattern with still photos at spoonsandhooks.com/2017/09/22/one-big-cake-shawl-scarf.

I have a question if I was to do this stitch in a 10mm but I only have 355 yards do you think it would be big enough
@SpoonsHooks6 жыл бұрын
Kerry Elizabeth - you need 1000-1250 yards of yarn for this pattern. See the written pattern at spoonsandhooks.com/2017/07/22/granny-cardi.
