I used mine to cut off the ends of galvanized T-posts, using the metal cutoff wheels that were shown on your channel (thank you, brother!), over a year ago! And the blade guard was NOT used! This puppy works great!

Recently picked one of these up and looks like it will be a handy little tool - when ya need one ya need one, and I like to be prepared.

Being left-handed, makes a lot of my tools awkward to use. I have learned how to work around most tools but there always seem to be something else that comes out that I have to adjust my hand to use

I just got it for Christmas. Haven't used it yet, but that guard is awkward.

why use these ovr a grinder w cut wheel?
@johnrobertson758319 күн бұрын
Its a lot lighter, and it has the thing he removed, which he called a guard, but in reality is a cutting guide. So a mini circular saw that can take a metal cutting wheel.

I would have expected a sturdier shoe setup. I bought it on sale a year ago. I used it some on some siding that was a ceramic type material. Im not super impressed, but I need to use it more to decide on it.

Just picked up one of these to score/get a clean cut through plaster down to the lath. Hope it works. Also, while I liked your review, a demonstration of the tool would have been nice.

Milwaukee was early to this type of tool, but now they have the most anemic one (of the major brands). Waiting for the M18 or an upgrade to this. It's a problem when both Ryobi and Ridgid models are significantly more powerful.

Theyre also behind the voltage curve now. Initially when their 18V came out was while dewalt was struggling with battery tech, they did real well. Once dewalt gave up on their concept of down/up grading sizes/styles/adapter refitting and committed to a better path, they took off again. But interestingly thats also when ryobi made a big jump in the market with their improvements.

I got the Ryobi one (I only paid $62) and it works like a champ.

Much more powerful than this m12. Milwaukee needs to make an m18 version or update because they have the most anemic one

Awesome for vinyl siding!

Milwaukee does not call the removeable item a guard...its an accessory guard with dust pickup and depth adjustment, and obviosly it also functions as a cutting fence guide. So I think you over-dramatized the negative aspects of it, with the exception for the leftie issue. Thx tho for the battery info. I would see the biggest use of this for doing picture frames and other hobby level cutting.

Just like any hand grinder, the guard is the first thing to go

Thata a saw guide, and the company technically calls it an accessory guard with depth guide.

I think this tool is poorly designed for removing and installing blades. I wish it had a place for the hex key like so many tools do. It's a Milwaukee and you are paying top dollar. Little things like that should be expected because when you get that on the cheaper products, it will have holders like that. I guess Milwaukee thinks it is the top of the hill and it doesn't have to do extra things for its customers. .But I decided to just not use the plastic cover. What purpose does it serve? I guess to contain the debris. I don't want to keep taking off that plastic cover just to change the blade and then it uses a tiny torx screw that you can easily lose. Then you can't remove that dust shoe assembly with the blade in it nor put it back in with the blade attached. I can see where people just don't even bother with the dust shoe assembly but I plan on cutting plastics and even thin plywood with it at times. I think I will use it to cut cardboard too because I am not happy with Ryobi's 4v cutting tool to cut cardboard. It's too much of an effort to push it through. It works a little better with thinner cardboard not so much with thicker card board. The 4V just doesn't give it enough power, so I took it back and bought this tool which cuts it very easily. The Ryobi 4v cutter tool is not really cheap when you consider to add the 3 port charger that has to be bought separately it's close to $100. I got this Milwaukee m12 cuttoff for $99 on sale. I already have all the m12 batteries and chargers. I do like the m12 system with it's lighter tools for lighter work. I also have some of the m18 tools for heavier work.

Absolutely not. I worked for OSHA. That tool can and will get away from you. Catostofic results. Never remove guards
