Look up DPF alternatives location near you. We actually clean Detroit One boxes and have a great success rate restoring them before you have to replace it.

I just had to have mine replaced in my 2016 FREIGHTLINER by FOUR STAR. Oh-boy, it was expensive! Even with my premium 2000 warranty, I still came out of pocket a great deal of money. My advice to anyone that has a truck with high mile (700k +) try and get save as much as you can because things like this does and will happen.

Looking at buying 2 2019 Cascadia's. Our current Freightliner/Paccar trucks do not have this system. This is a great video and you did great job illustrating. More checking I find most manufacturers use this system. Eye opener for me. Now I'm subscriber Thanks again.

Thanks for another good information. I'm in the shop now with a busted radiator and a pully went bad. It broke my fan belts. 2 guys here were having problems out the Def systems an freightliner here just figured it out 1 box went bad so I ask them what it was an I thought I get on the web. An find out about it. I have a 2018 Cascadia with 388.000 on it I'm get up in miles ill have 400.000 on it soon. I will replace mine ahead of time. Less problems on the road

i like your video, talked about clean the dpfs & keeping the serial number to input in your computer so my question is “ if you turn off your truck or disconnect your batteries & remove your dpfs & have them cleaned and then put everything back together you wouldn’t need to update your computer because there is no way a Mechanical part can trip your computer one other thing if your def injector is clogged all you need is to let it sit in water so it can dissolve the def.

Waiting over a month for a onebox. Truck under warranty (which does no good with parts on back order) dealer won’t do anything besides replace. OneBox is on indefinite national back order.

I drive an International Prostar hauling US mail. The most maintenance I do are typically pre trip inspections, but it's still important to know how trucks work so if something does go wrong I can try and diagnose/explain the problem to maintenance. What always shocks me after watching videos like yours is how expensive truck parts are, and with the price of diesel and insurance it amazes me how Owner Operators are able to make any profit, I guess it's through sheer hard work and determination, although I guess some jobs must pay quite well or you wouldn't bother!

almost certain you have the nox sensors mixed up, the one at the turbo is the inlet nox, the one behind the dpf is the outlet nox, and the sensor after the scr is the pm sensor (particualte matter)

Just had one dpf outler pressure high... found boot was broken. And found sensor faulty. Replace parts ran regen. Ok to run

Great video Ryan. Thanks for the clear and concise explanations. I have a 2015 Freightliner cascadia, and it is threatening to put me out of business because of the def system. I've spent about $20,000 at three different shops since this last August. I've had Nox sensors replaced, and the def doser replaced, among other things. Latest repair order, from a Freightliner dealer in Amarillo, Texas, says "monitored nox efficiency and stayed over 75% but stayed under 80%. Regen passed with no issues but if codes come back unit may need a one box replacement. Torqued load may change nox efficiency to become lower than specifications and causing codes to become active.". What do you think? Should I just proactively replace the whole one box before it derates on me again? I was basically down almost the whole month of November and December. A lot of the money I spent was in towing.

In diagnostics they have you replace outlet nox then inlet nox then def doser. The companies should of been proactive and replaced one box. They run 3 different test to come to a conclusion of replacing one box

Ryan my Mil light has been on for some time and I was wondering if bad temp sensors would cause the MIL light to come on? I have replaced both nox sensors and had dpf filter cleaned but not certine if the computer was reset after dpf filter cleaning. My problem is the mil light won't turn off...

Ryan, could the SCR sensors cause a derate. Put 2016 freightliner dd13 on computer and regen vaules were perfect. Then half way through regen the inlet Nox and outlet Nox reading reversed, mechanic said that the metals inside box are breaking down and need new one box. Could it be the Nox sensors or the SCR sensors causing bad vaules. 647k , new DPF, DEF injector. Thanks for any help!!

Yes and no. You don’t need the software to have the truck running. But you will have the SCR conversion efficiency code and you do need a software to clear it.

I have my regen light that came up on my frieghtliner cascadia d13 I just had someone do a force regen where they came and hooked the computer to do it since my manual regen button doesn't work. My question is if my regen light came back on within a couple of days does the mean that I need to have my 'one box'checked or is there any other problem that I should be looking at first? Any recommendations please would be very helpful.

I would suggest you look into OTR performance diagnostic tool. You can do forced regen with this little without taking it somewhere to have other people to do it for a charge. I have made a few videos about the tool on my channel. High recommend people to have one. Also use this tool to see if there is any other active fault codes.

Its not a "nitrous oxide" sensor, its "nitrogen oxide". You should look into such terminology before posting.
