I had initially thought it was an anime too and asked them about it and they paused, stared at me and told me its not an anime just go look it up. I looked it up and fell into a rabbit hole. Man, i miss the vocaloid era... But at the same time, it's good we're past that, cuz so many of those songs were artistic expression born from songwriters/producers' depression. Many had bubbly or extroverted melodies but actually had really sad or jaded or pessimistic lyrics.. And some, were simply outright sad and angry and pessimistic rock/ballads/rock ballads.

vocaloid is often known as "AI voice" too. the term >AI Voice< is wrong, while saying vocaloid is even more right (especially when creating music with sad vocaloid). like how Ike has perfectly geeked about, vocaloid is a voice synthesizer were we mix the voices how we want. and the >AI Voice< is also a voice synthesizer, but doesn't really do much thinking on their own; which is why saying "it's artificial intelligent" wrong. (basically calling a hoverboard from today's standard a hoverboard; it's not floating.) So whenever you see someone say or write in the youtube title "AI Voice", they basically used this voice like a vocaloid. I found vocaloid through my older sibling who was going through their emo phase... or was it through german covers.. or was it through Pokémonc special mangas role play character covers... anyways, I ended up as a vocaloid fan.

to be a lil more accurate, its not the tuning in project sekai, its the actual voicebanks themselves that arent that good quality. i agree tho, id say if u want to get into vocaloid dont use project sekai, bc it doesnt really have a vocaloid focus? in a way? its still very fun tho lol. it got me back into vocaloid and im greatful for that :>

tbh there's a lot of opinions whether it's the tuning that's bad or the voice banks but i've heard a couple songs and covers that uses the NT voice banks and they're pretty good, it's really reliant on whoever is handling it, but yeah it's probably not the best type to blend in with human voices either (?)
