I was an instructor for the Miniature/Microminiature Electronics Repair Program for the US Navy. Worked in the field for many years on equipment that peoples lives relied upon. It is so refreshing to see someone actually out here calling out all these "creators" for providing bad instruction. I rarely see someone here on youtube doing it right. Sure it may work for awhile and depending on the application maybe for the life of the equipment. But on motion systems or critical equipment these techniques are a must. If you are going to do proper technique there why not do it everywhere? Shortcuts will become habitual and it will come back and bite you eventually. Plus it's so easy to do it the right way. Maybe not quite as fast until you become practiced but the time difference is negligible. A couple of things I would have liked to have seen you elaborate on, If I may, Cold solder joints and the intermittent faults they create that are very difficult to troubleshoot and how when properly fluxed solder will flow towards heat or the heat source. I saw you utilizing the flow to heat technique but do not believe you elaborated on it. Excellent instructional video and demonstration. I still would have failed your wire splice though if you were in my class, not because you soldering was bad, we just had different requirements for splices and I was the instructor you didn't want grading your project :) I like the stay put setup you were using. I might have to pick one of those up.

Thank you for your educational videos. I'm more a hobby electronics person and mostly do simple electronics repairs, microcontroller experiments, or DIY analog audio stuff, and nothing CNC related. But still, I have learned a lot that will help me get better.

Don’t put flux on anything that you don’t want the solder to stick to!
