Other thing is that those don't understand is working with mains voltage is lethal. In US mains voltage is lower than EU but it's still lethal. Know few YT channel that basically show why cheap ebay stuff can be lethal and one give rating how dodgy or lethal those devices are.

Thank you for your support. You're correct, but very little disturbance is required electrically to our nervous system to provide a fatal heart rhythm. This is taken directly from Google. Electric shock can be fatal if it causes paralysis of the heart, breathing center, or ventricular fibrillation, which is when the heart muscle twitches rapidly and uncontrollably. Currents between 100 and 200 milliamperes (0.1 to 0.2 amp) are usually lethal, while currents above 200 milliamperes (0.2 amp) can cause severe burns and unconsciousness, but may not be fatal if the victim receives immediate attention. Resuscitation, such as artificial respiration, can often revive a victim. Thank you, Vince

I see VFD's being installed incorrectly all over KZbin. The most obvious mistake is mounting a VFD designed to be mounted inside an enclosure and just screwing it to a board or to the wall behind the machine. There are several failure modes that will produce a fire, which a metallic enclosure helps mitigate. They also don't typically feature any sort of effective mountings for strain relief since they rely on a separate enclosure. Never mind the technical points, these guys are failing right out of gate IMO.

Thank you for your support as always. The stress relief is a very good point. This now has become a real problem, and I believe we will continue to see this with many new creators who get cameras as this genre they feel provides easy content. Vince

Unfortunately you could make this same video on just about any topic and be correct. The internet is full of people that claim to be experts or worse claim to be a novice and still provide instruction. I am a retired electrical engineer who worked in robotics field for 25 years. I cringe every time I see one of these videos. Facebook groups and forums are even worse. I have my areas of expertise but the title of "Electrical Engineer" doesn't even make me an expert in all of the vast number of fields that exist in the electronics world. What the title does make me is a firm believer in RTFM and gives me the basic knowledge of electrical theory and the knowledge of where to find the specs or information I do not now. Unfortunately on the internet it is much easier to find the wrong information than the correct information. Everyone seems to want to shortcut everything to save a dime, including manufacturers. For this particular video, I would have stopped watching as soon as he complained about not receiving a power cord for the VFD.

How do I determine if my software is set to inches or millimeters? I'm having an issue where the design i created in Vectric software shows that I am in inches, but when I upload that file into my CNC software (The one shown in this video) it appears to perhaps be in millimeters or some other measurement. I say this because when I jog the spindle around the perimeter of my design image to make sure I am not going to run into a clamp...the distance is clearly fare to small. So confused

Thank you for your support. UCCNC is unitless. It's your choice what unit you use, but be careful, the CAM programs use inches or mms. If you want to use mms, you have to enter all data in mms. E.g. steps/unit on axis setup page means that how many steps make 1mm movement. Thank you, Vince

The benchmark tests made by the individual you are attempting to publicly defame were analyzed 'against references' from results of other upstream tests. This is 100% correct, and a technique utilized frequently in electrical engineering. Meant to characterize behaviors of used hardware and components.

I guess you didn't watch the video at all then huh? I guess you must see a lot of single axis CNC production robots with USB breakout boards that function with stability? All the end users in the video that posted publicly that their USB controllers/breakout boards has, is, and are disconnecting causing them problems is all just random according to your outstanding attention to detail then right? I love how you say I was trying to publicly defame the guy in the video, when he as a content creator made a video he should have done his research on, or better yet had the knowledge of before becoming a vendor of these components. There was certainly no defaming, only correcting the content he put out to provide end users in this genre the truth. My video points out with direct proof he doesn't know how to ground a shield drain, and he should certainly know after 16 years that USB is an unstable for CNC production robots. Thank you, Vince

And yes I see quite a bit of system automation in my trade (robots, as you put it). You are drastically undercutting your own credibility by mispronouncing the most basic terms in electronics. Thanks for making the video and providing feedback. I hope you watch some of the other videos I have on my channel. I think you will get to know me better. It's hard to get a good understanding of me from one video, but I love the information you provided and I can learn form it. I am grateful for the information. This is partly how I learn. [2:00] this is my first test. In my pinned comment, you will see that I will be doing further tests including a spindle/VFD, and in a CNC setup. [6:00] Good to know. I will be doing more research on this. Although I haven't seen any issues with using an USB controller for 13 years of my 17 year of my CNC journey, I will delve deeper into this. [9:00] Yep, I'll be doing that test. [11:00] Don't have an EFM reader, but intrigued. I brought that up because I talk to many customers daily on troubleshooting issues and they don't have the expertise to know you "can't" us a multimeter. [12:43] I believe it does make sense, if you are troushooting as a business, or you have a CNC that is required for on-time production. (I commented! Haha). Why not market this tool? [13:45] I saw this on job sites where the CNC needed troubleshooting. Your comment is great and taken to heart. [15:27] Good to know. As an aside, these terminals are rated for a much larger gauge. That b being said, I always use wire ferrules. I did speak about ferrules and not using them for this test. You skipped that section of the video. [19:12]That's not accurate: I experienced horrible EMI using a parallel port system back in 2007-2008 regularly is the signal wires were too close to the stepper motor wires. At that time, I had very little knowledge of shielding. [21:01] what is wrong with using an affiliate link? I am providing options for the buyer and selling the ones in my shop at a higher price with free technical support. If this is a perceived problem, I would like to know so I stop doing it. [22:32] Yes, you are correct, a very critical point which is pinned at the top of my comments on this video comment section. [23:35] Yes, wrong choice of words. I have a hard enough time thinking about what to say, but you are right. I am going through some pains, but that is kicking me in the butt to try to improve my website. This is just a sponsor section where I am sponsoring myself (or at least trying to). I stated in this section that I am providing curated content, items that I have experience with and know the quality. By the way, PayPal is my main gateway system for payment. The credit cards image is there to show I do accept them and at the time I put them there, PayPal was young and not trusted. [27:50] Yeah, I'm not the best at conveying my message and I need to learn the right way. [32:49] I remember Dave Jones talking about this way back, but I remember him saying the DC- does eventually go to earth ground, but if I am mistaken, I will mention this in my next video. However, DC- can be used for shielding, but I know it is not best practice. I will mention this, but I do mention this in a previous video where I put together a larger set of CNC electronics. Again, thank you so much for the feedback. It is ALL taken to heart.

At this point, anyone questioning the existence or effects of emi is just silly and ignorant. About 3 years ago, I purchased one of Vince's turn key kits for my Chinese 6040. It used to be plagued with all kinds of random missed steps and phantom motion. It was never a question of if but when! Once I went Vince, it all went away. 3 years later, it's 11:38 am. iv been running a program sense 7am with 3 more hours to go with no issues. It's 99F degrees in my shop here in Texas. I'm milling 6 3d carvings in acrylic with an 1/8 2f end mill, 3/16 ball,1/8 ball, 90V, and a 60V. My slowest cut feed is 80ipm on this current run. My Rapids are 150ipm. No missed steps, no odd motions, just money, hands down. I'm not sponsored by Vince. Hell, we have never met and only spoken on the phone maybe 3 times. His product just works, period. 🦾

For VFD, from how many sides should this sheild wire be connected to ground? Single side or both the sides?
@corvetteguy50
@corvetteguy50 8 күн бұрын
Thank you for your support, but this is really a question you should be asking the vendor you purchased your unit from right? I mean you wouldn't work for a company that wouldn't pay you for your time, so why would I be any different? The answer depends on who you believe. Let me explain the actual truth very carefully. Since the inception of shielded/double shielded cable for any application the standard to prevent possible "ground loop" issues is to only connect the shield to one end of the cable. This was done for both signal, VFD power cables, and all other cables with shields. Then in recent years someone/company have claimed both sides of the cable for VFD's are to be grounded. The fact is I've personally never seen any issues using the tried, and true method of only attaching the shield on one end of the cable that's been done since the beginning. Considering I sell at least 500 cables a year I would say I have above the normal practical knowledge of this to speak with validation. If you want more proof the same people who claim shielding both ends is required for the VFD claim without doing so will damage the VFD. This is an interesting to state because if you Google search the term "VFD damaged from only attaching shield drain on one side" nothing at all comes up of any unit destroyed/damaged other than people discussing the topic. Google is a data base, and you mean not one person has claimed this EVER?? I believe that's enough said. Here's an interesting thing to consider. Companies started selling grounding kits for both sides of their VFD's which didn't exist before the new theory came out. Seems odd huh? I personally feel that "if it isn't broke then don't fix it". Grounding one end of the shield drain of VFD power cables simply works works. If you want to ground both ends its your equipment good luck. Thank you, Vince

As a vendor speaking to another vendor the way you decide to sell is completely up to you, but honestly there's no way advertising for someone else would make any sense unless you're getting something in return which is why your using affiliate links. Links provided by you as an affiliate I don't see as options for your potential clients, but a way for you to offer them an opportunity to purchase them from Amazon at a lower price which you then wouldn't have to support as they didn't buy them directly from you.
