Bruges is a city in Belgium, which is ideal for daily sightseeing due to its size. You can easily get from one end of the town to the other in a few hours. So, put on your comfortable shoes and be sure that at the end of the day you will fall in love with Bruges and delicious Belgium chocolate.
You can find the map of Bruges by clicking the link in the description below. So don’t forget to subscribe to our channel and like the videos, and let’s start our mini-journey through the ancient Belgian town.
We leave the train station and cross the square, then turn right and walk for 10 minutes along a busy road, cross 2 bridges and exit to the Bargebrug bridge.
The Bargebrug connects the outskirts of the city with the most romantic place in Bruges (Belgium) - Minnewaterpark.
A long time ago, there was a port with sea access, canals, which kept a water level of the lake and connected trade routes. This lake is also called The Lake of love.
On the shore of the lake, among the high elms, you can see the ancient Beguine Monastery that was founded in the 13th century by the Countess of Flandria.
After crossing the bridge near the monastery, we’ll reach Wijngaardplein street. Then let's turn left into Walplein square. After a dozen steps to the left, we will see a building with a crescent. This is the De Halve Brewery Museum.
After turning to the right on the next Walstraat street, and to the left at the next intersection, we will reach the bridge. To the left of the bridge, there is another attraction of our city tour Bruges - Old St John's Hospital, which was founded in the XII century by the Augustinian Order and is still functioning.
Further, on the right side we will see the Church of Our Lady. Its history dates far back to the 9th century, when a small chapel was built outside the city rampart.
In the block to the left of the Church of Our Lady there is the Saint-Salvator Cathedral - one of the main attractions and the main Catholic church in Bruges. e much higher reaching 79 meters, and a copper spire was installed on it.
Let's go back to the Church of Our Lady and go round it.
After crossing the bridge into Dijver street, we reach another museum - the Gruuthusemuseum.
At the end of the block, on the left side there is a bridge with the Statue of St. John of Nepomuk - the patron saint of Prague and the whole Czech Republic.
After crossing the bridge and passing a block, we will approach The Belfry tower and a market square. Here we'll stop for more details, and now we'll turn right in front of the square. There will face another square - Burg Square.
There is also the Town Hall (Stadhuis) - not only one of the biggest tourist attractions but also a political center of the town.
There is one more sight in Burg Square that is worth seeing - the Basilica of the Holy Blood. It consists of two chapels: the upper and lower ones. The Romanesque chapel of Saint Basil the Great sits on the first level.
After the snack, we go back to Market Square.
Market Square in Bruges is the heart of the city, the center of its cultural and social life. It attracts tourists like a magnet - because an incredible number of historical attractions are concentrated here.
The 107-meter high Belfry tower with a chiming clock and a bell tower rises predominantly over the south side of Market Square.
On the east side of the square, where in the past there were covered berths, a complex of magnificent buildings was erected in the neo-gothic style. Here you may enjoy a view of these historical highlights, especially the Governor’s residence, the Historical museum, courthouse, and Bruges Central Post Office.

Sorry to tell you but the information in this video is not accurate. Eg: the railway station is NOT 15 km from the city centre, it's only 2 km. Walking by foot to the city centre does NOT take 1 or 2 hours, as you tell, it's only a 5 minutes walk. Please be more precise, it will help tourists in preparing their trip to our beautiful city. You can watch the short walk from the railway station to the city centre in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoG6ha2nn9mqmLs
