Flat Iron

Though the meat had more of a chew than I last had it, Flat Iron remains to be one of my favourite cheap eats in London for good value steak. The steak itself will only cost you £11 (which compared to other steak houses is miles more affordable) and comes with complementary popcorn and a salad. Fries, sides and sauces are an additional cost. There are several branches around the city but if you can, avoid going during the peak times 12-2pm / 5:30 - 8pm or weekends unless you don't mind waiting!

A great spot for tea but I wasn't as much of a fan of their coffee. The basement is usually free and is v. shabby chic with old bits of furniture as the decor. Good spot to get some work done or to catch up with pal (or your dad and sister) on a rainy day!

I've wanted to come here for a while. KAKI is a bar and restaurant serving a variety of localised Chinese cuisines including Szechuan and North Eastern food.
The stir-fry bowl wasn't to my personal preference but that's purely because I prefer lighter dishes and I reaaaaallly don't like my food to be too salty. My dad on the other hand LOVES salty food.
There was so much more on the menu I'd love to try including the squirrel fish and sheng jian bao which are on my radar for next time!

years ago I lived and worked in central London and there was nothing better than just being able to pop into Chinatown to have a plate of something delicious, authentic and value for money. I miss that. My nearest Chinatown is an hours drive away now (Birmingham) and yeah there are Cantonese restaurants near me but its just not the same. To just be able to hop into a little part of Hong Kong and get some noodles or whatever was so good.
