I think Zayn would've been the most successful if only he promoted properly. His anxiety and hatred for interviews as well as his poor management is holding him back. Pillowtalk was successful because it was his debut, IDWLF was promoted hard by Taylors camp and Dusk till Dawn had Sia's global presence. I'm not denying Zayns starpower and fanbase as i too have been a fan for a long time but just that isn't enough in 2018.

Exactly. I have anxiety disorder myself, but you can't just hide behind it. He has the money to get medical help with it and all that. Obviously we don't know if he is, but that's just my view. @Just A Person Yes watch the Zach Sang show he did he literally said he didn't want to make songs that were on the radio aka the traditional pop songs. And his new album has more of a rock and roll sound to it. Which is what he wants to make and it works for him. I'm glad he found music he like to do, all of them did and as long as their happy with the music they make I'm happy too. Not everyone wants to make songs that are chart toppers they just wanna make music they enjoy and that in turn attracts like minded people to it. Yes Niall is heavily underrated, his soph album Heartbreak Weather literally has no skips, it's a masterpiece. Sad that it was released right as the pandemic hit, I feel like if it was released at a diff time there would he so much more buzz about it. This isn't a hate comment, this is just my personal opinion. Louis's voice is scruffy, and scrappy, if that makes sense, but not in a good way. People say he carried One Direction for FIVE years' because of his, "amazing vocal ability" but I can't see it. I used to be a BIG fan of Louis's voice, and thought he was the best singer in One Direction, until I took vocal lessons' and, things aren't really good. My vocal coach told us scrappy is really good, when you're doing it well, e.c.t Billie Eilish, Melanie Martinez. But Louis, he would be a beautiful singer, if he didn't sing through his nose, it gives a horrible sensation in his chest, and causes the reaction in his throat to become muffled and scrapped, not scrapped. H can't even hit a C5 (the lowest high note to reach). Also, people act like he's the best in One Direction, but Zayn & Liam's control is impeccable, and Harry's uniqueness is ravishing, and Niall's maturity now is such a glow up, I'm not saying Louis isn't talented, its just, he needs probably a 1-2 years of vocal training before he's the right standered to sing along side the other boys'. This isn't a hate comment, i love Louis, its just he's FAR to overrated, no hate though 🤍.

@elledabee I never said he didn't have vocal capability, I just said that he needs much needed practice to sing along side the other boys'. His accent is quite authentic, and yes, it is in his singer voice, but it still doesn't mean he's vocally capable. He definitely has talent, but many people say his voice is unique, and I agree. But just because your voice is unique, doesn't make your technique any better. He said in his final year in One Direction, that he was the most confident he's ever been, so I checked out his voice then, to see if it is better than now, and it's not. He still has the same vocal technique, which could really hurt his vocal chords. If he keeps this horrible vocal technique, then he will completely tarnish his voice. Harry had the same problem, but it's quite obvious that he's overcome it and has been practising. This isn't a hate comment, just solid feedback.

He was open about his insecurity in his singing voice and originally just wanted to stay behind the scenes until his mother's death in 2016. I’m not trying to act like a tRiGgEreD fan girl but Louis was always neglected by the label when he was in 1D, they gave him the least solos which made him lose so much confidence so this is probs the reason why his performances are so shaky when he’s performing solo. Plus even as a solo artist his record label have done a shit job at promoting all of his singles and he’s mentioned multiple times about how they’ve pissed him off and restricted him on his album which is probably why it hasn’t been released yet, despite him saying that it will be coming out “soon” for the past year. Actually, I’m more glad that Niall got to be recognized... He would barely get any solos in the band. When I went to their concert in 2013 (I think it was that year) he would mostly play guitar and barely sing anything... I was so disappointed because he was my favorite. I think Zayn is just putting out music that he wants, regardless of how successful (or not) the outcome is. Like someone mentioned in the comments, his anxiety and dislike for interviews doesn't help when it comes to promotions (which is obviously a key factor for a single/album to succeed in the charts, etc.). um seriously it’s not fair to judge all the boys like this, because they are all so talented and unique in their own ways. Louis has a damn beautiful voice. Harry Styles will definitely be the top 1D guy for a long time if he continues playing his cards right. He's incredibly talented in so many areas. I think he can do anything he decides to do and be successful. I just don't think it's necessary to compare the boys. I know people are going to do it. I swear Harry Really has something like the It Factor. I wasn’t a directioner but I fell in love with Harry’s album, his acting and his genuine personality. I used to only know him before because he attracts females and media and I didn’t understand why he was so popular because Louis and Zayn were more attractive to me but now seeing a pic of Harry makes me wonder how can someone be so charismatic even on a pic. I think they could all have been stars, they all had massive followings. The fact of the matter is Zayn, Liam and Harry has the best vocals. Zayn could have been huge but didn’t tour or promote and its way too hard being a studio artist these days. He also seems very unlikeable in interviews. Definitely agree with pretty much everything that's been said. To me it doesn't seem like Zayn has a passion for being the typical 2018 music star but he doesn't really know what else to do. Liam ruined himself by trying too hard. He could have been more successful if he had a similar style to Zayn's considering they have similar RnB voices. Instead he went in a weird, cheesy, sexual (not sensual--theres a key difference) direction. If he doesn't get it together, he might drop to number 5 if Louis can pull off his album and tour. If artistry doesn't work out for Louis, we've always said he could be very good at the business side of the music industry. I think what will be really interesting to see how Niall and Harry "compete" in the future. Niall's music is still more appealing to the mainstream radio but Harry also has found his own niche of the gp that supports him. I'm really interested to see how his second album does.

I'm sorry I can't take this video seriously from just hearing your take on Louis career, and judging by the rest of the comments and skimming the video, the only one you praised was Harry Styles. I'm not denying the fact that Harry is incredibly talented and deserves the praise he gets, but it's no secret that he's currently under the Azoff's management. Not to mention he was the one pushed to be the frontman of the band. Of course, he was being groomed for a solo career afterward, it's ridiculous to think otherwise. - Louis is simply not just a personality. Just because you don't like his voice, it doesn't mean he's talentless. His singles hardly got any promotion and they did well respectively on their own. His songwriting talent is incredible and he's got the most writing credits in the band. He hadn't planned on going solo at all, but I'm glad he decided to. He has never strung along 'Larry Stylinson'. In fact, he's denied it various times and even tweeted that he was straight. (If anything, which I'm in no way implying is true, Harry is the one who's been more ambiguous about it. But he's also denied it too.) - If Liam wants to create those certain styles of music, that's his choice. He doesn't have to cater to your style of music. His dance hits were incredibly popular. He's performed in amazing venues and reached a billion streams without even having an album out. That's that. -Niall has toured twice and his album was beautiful. His second album is very much awaited. He doesn't need to release music that's vastly different from what he's doing now. He stayed true to his character while releasing bops. - First off, Zayn has anxiety which prevents him from doing performances/tours because there's no doubt if he would do tours and such, he'd be insanely popular because he's massively talented. His vocal range is, quite frankly, the best out of the other boys with Liam coming in second. His music is more r&b than pop, but it's great. To say he's never done a hit is laughable. i've been following all of them since i was 12 (2011) and this video infuriated me so much. I think it’s pretty clear that you haven’t done any research on this. as for calling any of them fan favourites, I’ve honestly noticed a very even split between all 5 of them so I personally wouldn’t call any of them a fan favourite apart from maybe harry styles, but then I’m a harry girl so I’m biased. first off, with louis, he had a child very early on (in 2016), so that definitely affected what was happening in his life. His personality definitely had a lot of fans absolutely adoring him. his “talent for stringing fans along” about larry stylinson is straight garbage - Louis hated that ship name and spoke out about it very frequently after like, 2011 when it started affecting his friendship with harry. He hated the ship and was very outspoken about it, so you clearly haven’t done any research about this. Louis does have quite a lot of talent, and it comes through in his live performances, there are definitely worse performances because every performer has their worse days, but he’s very talented. I don’t know if it’s his particular vocal tone or his style of music that you don’t like but that’s no reason to say he doesn’t have any talent. He wasn’t hiding behind the other members of 1d at all, and you’d be able to tell that if you listened to some of the post tmh 1d songs. He’s working on his album rn and is planning to go on tour next year. Just because he was underappreciated by 1d management doesn’t mean he’s a poor vocalist i wouldn’t really call Liam reserved tbh. He’s not a chameleon at all and his personality is very discernible if you watch a couple of interviews or have been to a concert. His voice might be somewhat like that? I’ve mistaken it for harry or zayns in the past ? as for his music not being? memorable? I’ve been to enough parties where everyone knows all the words to strip that down to know that isn’t true. Again, just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean no one likes it. If Liam wants to make that kind of music, he can, and loads of people around the world like it so the fact that you don’t doesn’t really mean anything when it comes to talking about his success. He and Louis have the most writing credits on 1d albums, and he’s a very accomplished vocalist (you could argue that he’s the most accomplished vocalist in 1d), so he knows what he’s doing, and he’s doing great Flicker might not have “mature subject matter” but it doesn’t have to. He’s had a good critical reception and commercial success. Writing about sex isn’t going to suddenly make him more money. What he’s doing is working for him. More mature doesn’t mean mean better. Zayn did well with pillowtalk, and mind of mine, yes, but the reason he hasn’t been able to achieve as much success as he maybe should isn’t that he’s having an identity crisis. It’s that he has anxiety and tends to stay away from doing interviews and tours. When he was in 1d he had close relationships with the other 4 members of 1d that helped him through doing a lot of promo, and even then you can tell he’s a lot more quiet at times. I would also disagree that it was Taylor swift that made harry so famous, for lack of a better term. When the tabloids were writing about Taylor and harry, 1d was already very popular and gaining popularity of their own accord. A lot of the new fans were hearing about them from word of mouth or around album/single release times. 1d spent 5 years making 5 albums and going on 4 tours with no breaks. That’s why they got so popular so quickly. Harry stays away from the public eye and hates talking about any of his relationships, so I doubt he was really rolling in the publicity like you seem to think. harry didn’t avoid riding the wave or anything, he went on tour with his album. and I wouldn’t say any of his projects are obscure at all (Dunkirk was directed by Christopher Nolan after all). if he’s the most successful solo, the others aren’t very far behind. here's what happened with Louis Tomlinson: After many accusations, louis completely lost faith and ended up signing to the same label, thinking no one else would sign him. Meanwhile Simon's label, his tv agency and his talent show were combined into Syco Entertainment and Louis was asked to guest judge Got Talent. He was pretty excited about his album around 2017 but X factor, the show Simon owned had very low ratings and hence, Louis, member of a famous boy-band, was placed as a judge. This really affected his solo career considering his singles with Steve Aoki, Bebe and other singles all did well. But, after 'Walls' was finally released, Syco did no/little promotion as Louis' contract was about to end and also, the pandemic didn't encourage physical sales in many countries. His contract finally ended now, and he's been doing good teasing his second album, Simon's out of the picture. Also, Louis truly shines in songwriting and engagement with fans and there are artists, take Taylor Swift or Rihanna, who's vocals didn't stand out in their early careers but songwriting/performance did. Let's hope for the best though.

One can tell that these critics don't do their research well and don't have their facts right when they write Niall as "nial" Louis Tomlinson fought every battle that was thrown upon him by the world be it the break of the band, the birth of the his son and controversy related to it, his mother's and sister's death or people undermining him. He made an absolutely beautiful album which speaks volumes and touches hearts. Liam Payne who is one of the most beautiful soles has made his own album, made brilliant songs like Midnight and done so much both for his fans and the world Niall Horan has proved the world wrong that he isn't the "underdog" by his two wonderful albums and being the gentleman that he is. Have you even heard "nice to meet ya" that you are saying "Disney sounding music" Zayn has made two amazing albums. Dusk till Dawn proved that his success doesn't end here. He has a long way to go and he'll do even better Harry has literally made two albums which are completely out of the box. Do you know what it takes to not care about how others might react and to only make music which your heart desires? He has made some totally unique and absolutely amazing music and no one even really remembers halor. You might remember it because you just scratched the surface for your video in the name of research. They all are amazingly talented artists who deserve so much better. There is so much more to each and every one of them.

This dude sounds super biased. Niall has had 3 hit songs (Slow Hands, This Town, and Too Much to Ask) which got lots of radio airplay. Harry has only had 1 hit song (Sign of the Times) and it got minor radio airplay. Therefore, based on success of singles, Niall should be at least #2 behind Zayn, if not #1. His entire speech on Niall was AWFUL. He didn't even mention Niall's success with singles. This guy must rly love Harry and Zayn and dislike Niall.

considering what Zayn went through! Management, not being heard, having no friends within the band, social anxiety doesn't come out of nowhere, he was bullied by the directioners when he was in the group (BECAUSE OF HIS ETHNICITY, and his religion when he was but a kid) and if that wasn't enough management didn't accept his input on the music! Imagine going through that at such a young age, which caused an inreparable damage to his confidence! when he got out which took guts, directioners ripped him apart for leaving nd some are still bitter about it! so excuse him if he wanted to stay out of the spotlight, excuse him if he wanted nothing to do with fame at the moment i am sure he will push his way through stardom once he is ready because god knows he has the face for it, he has the personality for it and of course the talent For it, the fact that he reached thus far without promotion is amazing! Imagine what he would do if he actually promotes his music! He will burn them to the ground... I would totally understand him taking the time off the spotlight and i am appreciative for the fact that he is still making music! And guess what his music rocks, lyrically it's the best (harry's too) he is experimenting tryingout different genres.. once he is ready.. Nothing is going to stop him. Zayn's era is coming bitches. Harry is amazing, he is a good performer, a wonderful singer and i admire him! What helped him is that he is friends with EVERYONE..In the music industry he is a likeable person so everyone is trying to promote him grimmy on the radio, BBC 1, ellen, james corden...
