One thing I would recommend is to apply one more layer of protection. It’ll further bond the books to the shelves, but more importantly it will protect the books from scuffing.

I really enjoyed seeing the strong creative vision behind this project. The final result looks great, simple enough not to be distracting but with a lot of aesthetic appeal. I love the smaller details like the corner protectors and the classic RPG books on the shelves too. Nice work!

That’s precisely what I was aiming for. The whole ogl thing pushed me a bit away from 5e which (though sad) motivated me to look into other games. The hobby is more than D&D and this video is just my way of saying that. Thanks for watching!

Been playing TTRPGs for a really long time and while I have played DnD, I do know and have played many other games. While I have a nostalgic feel for DnD as it was one of the very first RPGs I played, I have never really cared for level based RPGs, so a long time ago, I decided when I run a fantasy game in my home brew game world, I usually use Basic Role Playing, as I prefer that system more. Your GM screen looks very nice! Thanks for sharing.

This is gorgeous but I'd caution others to do the gluing and clean up first, saving the staining for last. Wood glue expects to be glued to raw wood, not stained, this seemed to cause no problems here, but might for others depending on the stain.

Woodworking+ttrpg, I'm in! Been looking for some ideas to build my screen too. Don't know if I'll go down the metal+magnet route. Did you consider other options? Cork? Sliders?
@LenricsRealm
@LenricsRealm Жыл бұрын
Well with cork you would need an appropriate thickness to pin something to it and you would need to factor that in if you would want the screen to be foldable. But no I haven't really thought about alternatives to the metallic surface tbh.
@WatchMeSayStuff
@WatchMeSayStuff Жыл бұрын
Paint doesn't adhere well to galvanized steel because of the layer of zinc coating on its surface, which inhibits proper adhesion. Zinc is a non-reactive metal and doesn't form a strong bond with the paint. Additionally, the surface of galvanized steel is often slick and shiny, making it difficult for the paint to stick. You can kinda get something to stick by roughing up the surface first, but it all comes off eventually.
@LenricsRealm
@LenricsRealm Жыл бұрын
Thank you for adding that! I have to see how this 'metal-lacquer' performs in the long run. No scratches yet :)

very nice GM screen. I like the idea of your tiny book case of RPGs, I just don't agree with a lot of the selections, especially if you are going for a wide representation of the hobby as a whole. You have a LOT of OSR games, which are just in essence different flavors of older editions of D&D. It just seems redundant. You have a wide selection of influential games from throughout the history of the hobby, but there just feels like there are some that are missing that should really be there that aren't. I just cant remember them all lol
@LenricsRealm
@LenricsRealm Жыл бұрын
There are definitely games missing. Most of the games are from other KZbinrs, community suggestions and the website I mentioned. The osr focus is simply based on my own interest so I agree that this may be slightly over represented. Also I wanted to show people who are a bit disillusioned with WotC that there is more out there that D&D players might enjoy. But again this is far from being a definitive selection.
@buddhawasright
