If you ever come back make sure to check out some of out hiking trails, I'm sure you did plenty on the North Shore but there's some wonderful ones in Duluth. If you like dirt biking we have a ton of those and it's a pretty common hobby among the locals. Many tourists are drawn to Canal Park and downtown but Duluthians tend to love our city for the nature and trails scattered throughout the city. Duluth is massive on local businesses so if you keep coming back over and over, you still won't be able to get the entirety of the Duluth feel. Some places for food you missed are The Portland Malt Shoppe which is a very very popular tourist destination off of the boardwalk where you can get some icecream. Sammy's Pizza has multiple locations throughout the midwest but over half of those locations are in the Duluth area. I'd highly recommend them as they have my favorite pizza and serve plenty of other Italian foods (not to mention that they also sell 1919 root beer.) 1919 root beer is just straight up the best root beer to ever be created. Its slowly becoming more and more common to buy but at one point you could only get it from specific restaurants in Minnesota. Nowadays you can run to a gas station in Minnesota or Wisconsin and buy a can of it and hopefully some day you'll be able to across the country.

Regardless of weather, your vlogs are always fun and enlightening. Kudos for always featuring independent or local restaurants or fooderies (did I invent a word?). These establishments thrive on their creativity, consistency and reputations, reputations built and maintained over time. Running a successful restaurant of any kind is hard work. Don't forget that they need to succeed every time. Not 85% or 95% of the time. Every patron has their own experience. We can always count on you guys to find the unique and special places to chow down.
@AdventuresofAplusK3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lawrence! I like the word fooderies, we shall make that an official word haha! And running a restaurant seems like one of the toughest jobs out there. We struggle a lot with people being unkind, overly critical, etc to us on KZbin and those in restaurants have to deal with that daily and often in person too. You two are just the cutest couple ever! And I love how you learn so much about the place and your enthusiasm, not to mention the high production values. Duluth is very romantic in the fog but you must come back on a bright sparkling day. You won't believe how it looks! Be sure to visit Lester Park.You passed it when you 1st entered from the North Shore. Duluth has parks with beautiful waterfalls just like the North Shore and Lester is my favorite. Also on Park Point is a fantastic sandy beach. On the rare day that it is warm enough it is a great place to lay out. But no one goes in the water! By the way sometimes it can be in the eighties on the hill and in the fifties down near the lake in the middle of summer because of the lake breeze.

I am so sorry that you were not able to see the Duluth bridge lift. We visited the area in 2012 and was able to see the bridge lift for a ship, and we thought the museum was awesome too.

So fun you 2. Cannot wait to get back up there and try that ice cream. I’ve been following them since they opened and they it looks delicious. Same with the smokehouse. Duluth stepping up its food game. And needless to say I’m so excited to see what kind of cheese adventures you get into in my home state.

Duluth's food game was strong! Both spots were oh so good! We hope you can check them out soon 😃

Love it! My mom grew up in Duluth and attended Central High School when it was still used as a high school. Too bad you didn't get to see a ship go through the canal. Next time.

OMC Smokehouse was OMG!!! Being from Texas we were blown away with the amazing BBQ. It was well worth the 45 minute wait we had. We got the Mac N Cheese, Elote Corn, Sweet Potato, Grits and the Coleslaw sides and they were all amazing. Two thumbs up from a Texas traveling family. We also went to the Love Creamery across the street and it was amazing. Great suggestions.

What I would give for a week of wet weather here in the West! That said, glad you didn’t let it dampen(yes I said it🤣) your spirits & still were able to give us such an informative & delightful & delicious tour of the Duluth area!👍🏼 Your outros always make me laugh!😂 You’ve peaked my curiosity of what awaits us when you visit Wisconsin!🤔 Until then …safe travels & hugs for Kona.🥰

Awesome video. It made me want to get off the couch & head straight to Duluth. The OMC Smokehouse was top notch. It seems to combine the best of Austin BBQ (hail Franklin) & Charleston SC with the side dishes like jalapeño grits & sweet potato casserole & corn salad. If I eat there, I’d probably stuff myself into a coma.

We will say, many BBQ spots have average sides, but OMC not only had amazing smoked meat, but the sides were SO good too!

Guys!!! Long time subscriber here, just moved back to MN from Port Angeles,WA. Yes!! Cue up Storm King!!🤪 So proud when you conquered that Kathryn! Anyway… missed several of your posts because of moving. Hopped on to see where you guys are adventuring. Low and behold you are (we’re) once again in my backyard! 👍Totally agree with you on similarities of Seattle and Duluth! So glad you got to see some of my favorites. Artists Point, Gunflint, Enger Tower. Hard to leave PNW. But we will be wintering in AZ and Utah. So, we will be brushing up on those posts of your as well!! Happy Adventuring!

Bummer that you didn’t get Duluth on a beautiful summer day. I moved here after 15 years in San Francisco\, and I have been very surprised of how much I’ve enjoyed it. You really need a few days in Duluth alone just to explore the trails, waterfalls, beaches, nightlife etc. . But thank you for highlighting Duluth and Northern Minnesota. Being new to the area myself I look forward to watching your other videos of the North Country for exploration tips.

The most famous and venerable restaurants in Duluth are the Pickwick (over a hundred years old, in a lavishly decorated building with hand-painted murals and carved wood); Sir Benedict's On The Lake (British-style place in a 1930s-era building); and Grandma's (in a 19th century building that used to be a bordello, now filled with old store signs from Duluth's history). The Radisson hotel downtown has a revolving restaurant on top that gives a panoramic view of the whole city while you eat (it only revolves slowly, don't worry).

I'm excited to see what you guys do in Wisconsin, I can't wait to go back. Minnesota & northern Wisconsin are both stunning and unexpected, I didn't know how beautiful everything was on Lake Superior & the north country. I was in Ashland & Bayfield about 2 weeks ago, we picked a bunch of blueberries and made jam & syrup from them. If you find yourself in Ashland, you should check out Black Cat Coffeehouse & the Ashland Baking Co across the street (amazing cinnamon rolls/sticky buns), the artesian spring water well, or take a ferry over to Madeline Island. We drove through Duluth, and made our way up to Voyageurs National Park for the Perseid meteor shower. Unfortunately, it was cool and cloudy so we decided not to stay. But the park is stunning and there is so much wildlife, Rainy Lake is a really nice little town. We're planning a trip for next summer, we're going to rent a houseboat for a few days on the lake to get some quality nature time.
