Oh the lengths you'll go to in order to avoid whipping out the buttonhole attachment for your vintage sewing machine!! Also, yes, I'm fully aware that one generally uses interfacing for bound buttonholes (this is NOT my first rodeo, folks), hence one of the major reasons for doing the little sampler, but I didn't have any on hand, and I thought it would affect the drape of the fabric in a way that I didn't want, so when it looked great without the interfacing... I just skipped it. Rules are meant to be broken, folks!
If you're into sewing projects that aren't quite tutorials, but that and entertaining and where you can still pick up some useful sewing tips and tricks, then consider heading over to my channel for more fun sewing videos and projects!

I had to watch it 5 times to catch that last caption word, but it had me rolling! That's one way to increase your views!!! Also, can I say cutting ONE STRIP and using a template to draw rectangles is GENIUS? I used to be a professional seamstress and never saw this hack. It's been a couple of decades since I've done bound "buttholes" (lmao), but will definitely do this if I ever have the occasion to make them again! Hahahahaha. Oh man. I'm still dying!

@@ShannonMakes- Please tell me if you made Part Ii (with the comment about "little anuses') after you saw these comments about your flub. OR if it WAS unintentional?? And in case you never come across my other comment, as a former professional seamstress, can I say using one strip for all buttonholes and making a template is genius? It's a sure way of gettting them to all.line up perfectly! Also, a couple of summers ago I made a fress dress pattern from Peppermint magazine. Didn't even think about the army of buttonholes down the front! (i despise making them!). Was I relieved to discover I could slip the dress over my head. I just sewed the buttons on hrough both plackets. And the next time I made the dress, I just seeed the placket shut as a deaign detail. The third one I cut the front as one piece. You may have given buttonholes a place back in my owuvre! (i hate misaligned buttonholes).

Your bound buttonholes are amazing but if you do have the buttonhole attachment for that model of Singer you will love it. My 92 year old mom still has and uses her Singer that’s the exact same model. She got it new in the early 1960s. The buttonhole attachment has these little metal templates you select for the proper buttonhole size. This makes the nicest buttonholes and it’s super easy. You should give it a try and do a video about it

I make these all the time for many reasons because I have upcycled sewn all my life and dont want to buy hardware, grommets etc. I also make mens shirts into ones with drawstring waist so use these where the strings come out. Be careful not to make too wide or long Should be snug to button size.

I would like to add something here. I used to make military uniforms for the US gov and there was a chemical suit that used this type of buttonhole. I literally made hundreds of them. Too bad you're lazy. Putting the buttonhole attachment on would have taken about 1/20th the time that it took you to make one bound buttonhole.😂
@ShannonMakes
@ShannonMakes 10 ай бұрын
...but then I wouldn't have had bound buttonholes 🤨

Sounds like you say "Seafoam Gree Butt Holes" at the end. Maybe be more mindful about where the cut is in your videos.

…that’s because I did say “seafoam green buttonholes” …and then took several minutes to carefully add correctly spelled subtitles. Maybe be more mindful before you make assumptions about creators and how much thought they did or didn’t put into their work. Or just go watch part two, where it becomes even more apparent I’m talking about green anuses.
