I love the look of EPP but every time I work on mine I fall asleep. In 30 years of working on mine I think I have about 2 foot sq done. Mines done with 1” squares. I have tried all different types of shapes (working on Mom’s) and I still kept falling asleep. I have since given up trying to do EPP as a bad joke 😹😹😹 Just a side note, pre WWII the ye old morning English newspaper was used for the paper pattern, I learnt this when I was thrift shopping in the UK back in the 70’s when I found a whole box of EPP with instructions for a double bed quilt, so I bought it for Mom who either knitted or did EPP at work on the night shift. All after the patients were bedded down for the night. There were 3 of them on shift and they each took turns in the lining cupboard to get a couple of hours sleep each. The rest of the time it was sitting reading or crafting. I watch Kristine, I sub to her channel quite a while back now. 😹😹 she has some really interesting videos well worth watching.

I think it would be perfect as a paravent ! It could also match and tie nicely with the other patchwork project you have for the house (like the sofa/chair you want to cover). I wanted to try quilting and patchwork for a very long time and I think that English paper piercing could be the best starting point so thank you for the inspiration. Oh and, as everyone else, I loved to see some bits about your circus job.

Are these 2 inch hexies or 1 1/2 inch hexies? I’m working on a quilt in shades of yellows. It’s turning out beautifully

I finally understand how English paper piecing works. So l bought some shapes on Amazon. It’s perfect for just sitting and sewing a small project. I like the idea of not creating a pattern. Have fun in Norway. Maybe you will meet up with Arne and Carlos

I love EPP. I started last year and it's so easy to get into and experiment just like you talked about. I had a very lovely friend use her cricut to cut out hundreds of hexagons for my current project. Your method is also very similar to mine. I love that everyone does it slightly differently because it's important for it to be comfortable for you while you're doing it.

My first creative sewing was English hexagon patchwork, and my Gran joined in and we used to sew together on Sunday mornings. She loved it. 50 years later and I am taking patchwork up again to make a quilt.

Most tutorials have you glue base first. I can see that some of the hexies are a bit loose but it is easier to pull the papers out this way. Does anyone have further experience comparing g the two methods?

English paper piecing is so portable. I took some to the hospital with me to do after my surgery. They were a bit smaller than yours . I printed the hexagons from a page online but I did mine almost 20 yrs ago . You were much smarter getting the precut. Mine are still in a bag somewhere , unfinished. lol

This summer I've been trying out using quilting clips for stopping my music flying off the stand at outdoor performances! I prefer them to clothes pegs or magnets, so I'm going to keep a few in my music bag from now on and the rest in my sewing kit. Still had to catch the music flying past me from the bass clarinetist's stand though!

I started EPP after finding a pack of 1000 of those hexagon paper templates in a charity shop for £2! It's great for using those little fabric scraps that are too small for anything else, as well as those little bits of thread left over on bobbins after a project. I'm hoping to make a large blanket that will showcase my sewing journey with bits of fabric from all my makes over the last few years.

How do they source the fabric they send in the box? What kind of fabric is it? I’d rather not pay for fresh polyester, for example.

I didn't know it's called English paper piecing... and did a whole picture with patchwork style in my own way and it was so tedious 😅😅 I'm excited to try it again now that I found out about this method of sewing tiny patterns together 😁 but I have a lot of other project to do first lol

I've been thinking about putting together an EPP project, and it looks like you've got the collective brain cell 😂 Long time no see! How have you been?? I got accepted into my local uni and I've been very busy getting ready (despite a broken foot 🥴) for when the fall starts. Today's project is spinning for a shetland shawl 🥲🤡

I'm planning some crazy quilt style projects right now, and wasn't looking forward to piecing together fabrics in a way where all the perimeters match up according to my geometric vision without awkward corners or ripples ... And this just solved that for me! I can draw any geometric pattern of my dreams on a single paperboard piece, cut it out, and then use this method to shape and join all the sections before embroidering them down onto the backing fabric! Heck yeah! Thanks for the inspiration and of course the characteristically delightful video!

I bought a large hexagonal hole punch for my English Paper Piecing! it works great! YOu can re-use paper you have, and not have to measure, mark and cut every single hex.

I've had an EPP project on the go for several years. It was originally going to be a lap quilt for my mum but she died a couple of years ago so it doesn't have much of a purpose at the moment. It's handy to turn to in between other stuff or when I want something less brain taxing. Yours looks great and will make a lovely interesting backdrop. The screen frame was a really lucky find. Also enjoy Kristine's channel her voice is so soothing.
