Fallout New Vegas, the best answer Also, heh, "what kind of gear for each zone", while I'm over here currently running around Pobeda Factory with -a hunting shotgun- an Izh-27 and a Glock of all things and kicking ass. Do NOT sleep on how good the -hunting shotgun- Izh-27 is, because that dead-on accuracy even with regular shells is nutty. Friggen picks off a Mimic or Spawn at 30 feet with buckshot. PS: I keep calling the Izh-27 the Hunting Shotgun because it's so similar to the TOZ-34 in STALKER and shared the nickname, which I use all the time there.

if somehow an lmg is on the list somehow, it could have disintegrating links that you can just buy in the shop, or the box they put them in could be modeled with one but act mostly as a normal magazine (ig limits the options to guns that have the capability to use disintegrating belts)
