Step by step, you'll see this 100 year old Boy's Knife transformed from a rusty piece of metal to a fully functional knife. This knife was made by Liberty Knife Company of New Haven, CT. Liberty Knife was in business from circa 1919 to 1925. Enjoy!

Well said! ( brought back memories when my little girls and I skinned up a mess of saplings for walking staffs for older folks .. now 25 30 years latter I’m using one ( lol).. Grandson and I were sanding a couple of the old sticks ( and tung oiling them last week… ) ‘Something’ about working with a piece of wood or metal .. I love restoring old tool boxes / tool chests .. I never have one sitting around for long daughters, always like to claim it to repurpose! ( blanket, chess end tables, game boxes) ,,, It’s amazing what you can do with the wood glue and tung oil… OK, 2 cups of coffee instead of one just had to rattle on.. yeah you said it’ great opening!! ‘

Honestly I feel like the vintage 1930s till late 70s imperial, colonial, camillus all have better steel than most modern blades today...they are truly the best keep secret i wish I could afford more of them...the price has skyrocketed lately on ebay & other places...nice refurbish job 👍 thank you for sharing brother 🇺🇸

Nice job on your restoration, I might suggest you trying good quality pipe cleaners for cleaning the blade slots of your knives. If you want, give your painted covers a harder lasting finish use a coat of clear nail hardener over the painted areas of the covers. You might let your wife apply the nail hardener because she likely has more practice using it. 👍

Thanks for the tips, Gizmo. After just slightly using the knife, and little paint rubbed off, and it gives it a good "pocket worn look." I appreciate you watching, my friend.

Great cleanup on the little boys knife. That is an Imperial knife co. But is always mistaken for an L K co knife. The first letter is an I with a period but without a magnifier the period makes it look like an L. I made that mistake too. Great Video Tom. Take care and God bless you and yours ✝️ 🙏

Thanks for the info. I can't find that tang stamp on any Imperial tang stamp chart. And I read somewhere that it is a Liberty. Can you tell me where you got your info? Thanks brother.

@@knifedelights7473 Tom, I was told by an Imperial collector that the one I had was an Imperial but to me it looked like an L so I looked under a jewelers magnifier and saw it. The period after the I is placed in such a way that it look like an L. I froze the video as you showed the tang on my 70 inch TV and getting up close it looks like mine did and looks like an I. more than an L I will try and get a good picture of my NOS so you can see it without the patina in the stamp. Will send an email.

My first knife was about 3/4” long and I won it in a plastic capsule from a gumball machine It was a tiny pocket knife that actually worked I was in the second grade and I was so excited that I took it to the school the next day and showed it to a fourth grader who promptly told a playground monitor teacher who took me to the principal He confiscated my knife and that was the end of it It was extreme overreaction to an item that wasn’t a danger to anyone but I would have been expelled if I did it today I must say that your videos along with those of the Knife Doctor have led me to buy a lot more vintage knives and clean them up I love that old jack
