It actually makes me really sad that Rebecca can't actually sing. Like, there's the whole theory of Rebecca will finally find her true purpose in life as a star in musicals, but she has no talent for it, yet she enjoys it so much (as was evidenced by her activities at camp and her dialogue with her mother). I'm curious as to know what she'll end up doing, as I doubt she'll stay at the pretzel stand forever.

True, but it's also realistic. There are a lot of things a lot of people love that they'll never be able to do at a professional level because they're just not good enough at it.

The thing is she hasn't consistently trained her voice up to this point. I can sing really well when given vocal training but if I don't sing for a while or train my voice it will deteriorate back into bad habits that make you a bad singer. Being a creative is 5% talent and 95% practice and dedication. I really think the idea that being a good artist, singer or dancer is innate traits that you either have or don't is really damaging and caused me to constantly stress about when I will hit my talent limit and was really hard on myself when I didn't improve noticeably constantly, and I fell out of love with a lot of my creative hobbies because of the pessimism. If you don't start amazing you can get there through practice and dedication.

Valid. Look at it this way - things are always contextual. A song about how love is a moment of perfect epiphany might be harmful to a person who's been conditioned to think that love must ALWAYS be a moment of perfect epiphany and that when it is then everything is perfect. But that doesn't mean love *never* involves moments of perfect epiphany. And it makes perfect sense to write songs about those moments. And I think such a song - this song - would be perfectly appropriate to play at your wedding if it speaks to you and you happen to be a person different from Rebecca Norah Bunch during the time period CXG covers.
