As a proud owner for just under four years of a 2018 LC 500, I can verify for sure where it's not at home. That would be the repair shop. This car is so well put together it doesn't even squeak or rattle anywhere. Not a single hiccup in four years. In my opinion, these are the finest cars in production today at any price. Sure, it's not a race car but it's plenty fast. If somebody thinks they need 700 horsepower, they are bonkers. The car does everything it was designed to do very well, flawless in fact. It's beautiful to look at from any angle and so comfortable you can drive it all day long. Once you learn VOICE COMMAND, you never have to use the trackpad except in very, very rare instances. As for the competition, there really isn't any. All the other cars break. They have cheaply made electrical components and that's where the owner is going to pay dearly. The LC 500 is solid and if people would simply leave it alone, instead of messing with it, the car will damn near last forever. My car does 0-60 is 4.2 seconds with traction control off. I've been in a Tesla that is twice as fast but wouldn't want to own one. The InfraRed with Toasted Caramel never gets old to look at. I opted for the 20" wheels because the roads in the Bay Area are crap and full of potholes. Anyone looking for a fabulous car....need look no further.

It is a grand tourer and not a high performance sports car. That is why it is very soft and floaty. It is meant for long distance cruising in comfort and not for a stiff ride. The transmission also overheats a lot in our laps on the track.

I’m in the process of buying a Inspiration series model. The dealership are bait switching from $121,500.00 MSRP, to $171,500.00. They don’t tell you this until you get ready to purchase it. I refuse to pay that inflated price for this car. The sales pitch is they are only making 100 of them, so that is why we mark them up by $50,000. I tell all the salesmen that these are niche cars like my 2012 SL63 AMG that I bought used one year old with 4000 miles for $99,500.00. The SL63 sold brand new for $151,500.00 and it was certified. I also bought a 1997 Plymouth Prowler with 2000 miles on it 4 years old for $32.000. The original owner paid $90,000.00 for a $38,000.00 car. These cars are sitting on showroom floors waiting for suckers, even the regular convertibles are being bait switched from $10,000.00 to $30,000.00 . I’ve done my research and I’ve found brand new 2019 yellow and 2020 green Inspiration Series cars still on showroom floors for discounts selling for $92,000.00 . Like you said I always tell the salesman I’m not in love with a car, and I can wait and purchase it at the right price. I tell them they can contact me when they are ready to sell it at MSRP, or I’ll just wait and buy it used with low mileage for $80,000.00 .

@sanju2 Thanks that’s a good idea . I’ve also been keeping up with the sales on car gurus. They have already started lowering the price of the regular convertibles under MSRP, and emailing me to see if I’m still interested. I’m going to wait until the end of the year, I want the car but I don’t need it.

Needs more speed for 471 HP, but at least it is faster than a 370z or a Subaru STI is, which for the streets is all that you really need anyways. Go to it's competitor like the AMG GT C and that car is so powerful that you barely press the gas and you' going over 100 mph and getting handcuffed. Now, if you go to the track that will be a different story.

lets be honest, you aren't buying this for pure speed. you buy it because it sounds great and it has concept car design AND is a luxury car

How is this time compared to other performance cars that you tested?

I'm new to track driving and got to take one of these around a road course. It really is an intimidating car. Lots of power, very comfortable, and you know at any moment it will happily go sideways. But it's so expensive you really don't want to risk it.

Will there be a leaderboard for the one lap times, like Top Gear style?

Love this car...can’t wait for the full review on the review channel! I had a 2009 IS 350 that I sold back in April when I got my Model 3. I would never go back now that I have my Model 3, but I absolutely loved that car. I would love to see how a current top end IS does on one lap compared to this - hard to justify $100k in my mind for this car, but obviously we will see in the review if it is indeed worth that...good stuff!
