In the interests of taking advantage of the freedom of expression and healthy debate we still have in this country, and because I’m genuinely concerned by the hypocrisy and performative piety that social media seems to be laced with at the minute, I just wanted to highlight the ‘hopefully less shopping at unethical companies i.e. Starbucks’ comment. One, because leaving a comment like this can harm other people’s/customers perception of Milly and two, because this trend of being vocal about a handful of global companies related to the current conflict but remaining silent on other atrocities and human rights abuses is in itself discriminatory because we create moral blind spots. For example, I hope you never purchase anything made in China, where it’s evidenced by the human rights watch that China frequently prohibits independent labor unions and human rights organizations? This includes companies such as Apple so I assume you didn’t write this comment using an Apple device I’d also hope you’re out here, holding others to account and being vocal about other deeply concerning human rights issues across the middle east and North Africa, such as the intensifying repression of women’s rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran? Or Algeria and Iraq, where new laws passed allows rapists to escape prosecution by marrying their victim? Or Morocco, who rejected UPR recommendations to criminalize marital rape? Just some food for thought for you and maybe anyone else reading this

@Im forced to reply to this comment even if ive been avoiding zios because I had my share of them deflecting the attention by mentioning other important issues albeit definitely not as urgent as the current tragedy where we are losing at the very least 41 baby each day for over a year now. I have nothing against melly as I love her art and following her journey and so I wish for her to be aware that small actions are leading to big impacts
