The first time I stayed at The Tropicana was in 1995. The first time I stayed at the 3 Story Bungalows was 1996. It was New Year's Eve & there was a Rare 70 Degree Winter Heatwave. I remember that the Air Conditioning Broke & the Room got to 80 degrees. The staff told me that it was built in the 1950's & was old. (It was old almost 30 years ago lol)

Thank you Jordan for documenting this property one final time. My uncle played first trumpet at the Trop for over 30 years so it’s safe to say I’ve been there several times. Unfortunately, it looks like it did when I was a kid. It’s rundown and dilapidated so it’s about time it closed. Another unfortunate thing is that I usually stay at the Delano across the street but now that the stadium is going in it’s safe to say good luck getting a room for any reasonable rate now, as it’s already impossible with the football stadium across the street.

Thank you very much for posting this! Very nostalgic, as the Trop was the first hotel I stayed at with friends when we were old enough to visit Vegas on our own in the early 90's. Great times, great memories, and at that time it was a fantastic hotel/casio. The Tropicana pool was what it was all about back then, with swim-up drinks and blackjack, lotsa fun. Thanks again for the vlog!

Great video Jordan. I was in Vegas a few weeks ago for the Kraken-Golden Knights game (I am from Seattle) & I stopped by the Tropicana for one last visit before the game. Even during that visit, it was strange being in the property because there was very little atmosphere with very few people out on the casino floor & they had already begun to turn off the machines. However that doesn't take away the great memories I had while staying at this property including winning $100 the first time I ever played slots when I turned 21. Thanks for talking about the history of the Tropicana & I really hope the city keeps the Tropicana Ave name for the street that runs by the hotel as a way of honoring its legacy.

Nice video Jordan! Incredible history tour of one of the last "old school" properties in Sin City. My memory of the Tropicana is from 1991. It and the old Sahara property were two of the last Baccarat games that still featured Laddermen still sitting on ladders high above the game with a seat at the top and over seeing the play at the Baccarat table. Pretty amazing memory for me. Even with my stay in 1991 I remember thinking that for the money there were much nicer places to stay on the strip and even downtown (specifically The Golden Nugget after Steve Wynn added the tower and renovated the property.) Sad to see another piece of history going away but that is the price of progress I suppose. Thank you for another superior video and one that is very important because of the history of the Tropicana.

You documented history for future generations who wonder what used to be there before the ballpark. Personally the hotel looked okay. Thank you for the tour I went to Las Vegas but I never stopped at this hotel. It's now been imploded and the rubble is being cleaned up

I stayed there in 2009. The pool was nice. Walked through there last November to say my goodbyes. Can’t say I’m surprised to see it go, it was looking rough. I’m looking forward to the ballpark

Great video. Stayed there in 2001 and the garden rooms were so junky…the door wouldn’t lock and no heat in the rooms so I complained and they switched me to a Paradise Tower room. It was never a fun place to go but I will miss it. A lot of history there.

Really interesting! Thanks for taking us on that journey. The first time I visited Las Vegas was during the summer of 1994 while traveling across the country.on a road trip. Since then I've been back a number of times and in the early 2000s my in-laws moved there - and retired in Summerlin. I may have gone inside the Trop once. It just seemed kind of plain or old/outdated with not much to offer outside of gambling. It looks like some parts of it were kept in amazing condition while other areas didn't age well at all. Nothing lasts forever. And I'll pass on the opportunity to own a piece of history - a bed. No thanks. I like the rendering of the future venue!

Wow! I'm actually surprised it was that wore out / that run down. I was at the Tropicana back in '95 (brother got married at the Wedding chapel there outside). It was decent back then. Pretty sad. If I had a lot of money I would have someone tear down that chapel and have it shipped / rebuilt at my brother's place. Thanks for giving us a final view of the Trop.

Sad day when shut first stayed at trop in 2003 last time 2019 and few times in-between. Love the trop. What a stupid idea knocking down a iconic vegas hotel to build a poxy baseball stadium. Hopefully stadium won't go through. Great channel guys

Trop was such a weird one to me... Ive only been in there once, dont remember much of it. But I do find it strange that for such an iconic property in a pretty good location, I cant recall anyone Ive talked to ever mention staying there or going there- quite an anomaly, honestly.

I stayed there last year. MGM and Caesars sportsbooks were having the computer ransomware problem so the little sports book at the Trop had a line wrapping around the inside of the casino. I felt it was a third rate casino at the end. I first went into the Trop in the early 80s. Where the MGM Grand stands today, was a small hotel called the Marina Hotel. We walked into the Trop for the first time and felt it was very classy, especially with the stained glass ceiling above the table games. I've stayed in the back tower and had a room facing the airport. I would watch people board the shuttle flights to Area 51. If you could go back in time, the Trop was a mob hotel and was the beginning of the end for some mobsters because of the skim. As they tear her down, I wonder if any mob items (including bodies) have been discovered. She will be missed, but with the way Vegas has evolved, she was a relic at the end and it is time to move on.

Sounds like the "deferred maintenance" problems would have prevented a closing party atmosphere to close it down on the last night. Would have been cool to have more gaming options, more dining options and maybe some name comedian(s) at the Laugh Factory, a band or singer in the theater, etc. Sounds like you nailed it though. They quit caring about that kind of thing quite awhile ago..... A little bit sad it went out like this. Especially since the stadium still doesn't seem to be a "lock" yet.

Appreciate your video of the Trop. Used to visit there in earlier times and actually really like that casino back then. We never stayed there, but played there a lot. Certainly causes me some sadness, much as did many of the other casinos and hotels that were closed and destroyed too. Thanks for providing this to us.

My wife and I saw Raiding the Rock Vault there in 2015, too! Fantastic show and the showroom was the ONLY decent part of the Trop, even back then. We tried to have a pre-show drink at one of the bars and the bar top was so sticky that we just got drinks from the sundry shop and drank them walking around the property before the showroom doors opened.
