Thanks for this one Ross. Would love to see more folks hitting the thumbs up to promote this and get more folks aware of this channel. Also comments during and after the live stream are great to help Ross get the word out. Interaction of most sorts help get the word out and will help Ross and his mission in life so what is wrong with that? I mean cute puppies! Next best thing to crazy kittens.

In late 1980s, I was stationed at 29 Palms Marine base and met a fellow Marine who used to go out and pillage local mines in his spare time. One day, he brought back a gold nugget about the size of an egg. Best of my memory, it appeared to have been melted down, and was rounded similar to an egg, but flatter on one side. He said he accidentally kicked it up underfoot while poking around in a long abandoned mine. I was sitting in a dentist's chair when the finder brought it by to show his dentist friend. He let me hold it, and it was quite heavy for its size. Will never forget that.

Interesting venture and you do a good job. I am curious to see problems and participant in finding solutions, think about that as a show format. Of course, continue your other efforts. For example, the mine air perhaps filtered looks to be a huge energy resource for heating and cooling any building you need.

My questions. How much did you pay for 400 Acres? Do your Mines have flooding problems? What are the average Highs and Lows Temperatures for Summer and Winter outside the Mines? When the Mines were active, did they require a lot of water to Mine the materials? What prevents Mines from collapsing at each level? Do they need so much earth to separate the floors? Do you have accurate Maps of the 20 Miles of tunnels left by the prior owners?
@tecopamines
@tecopamines Жыл бұрын
Lots of questions… Purchase price is classified. No real flooding problems usually although heavy rains will send water down a few shafts. Temps could be 120 high summer to around 30 low in winter. The mines did need water but the operators trucked it in. The levels don’t collapse because the rock is usually solid and well-timbered. Levels are 100 feet apart and I have some pretty decent maps.

Brilliant video.. Your sense for adventure is inspirational. The dogs are an added bonus, and very well behaved. Joyous to hear your back story in this video of answers to viewers questions. It would be great to see more photos of the railway presence at the mines, especially the loco or loco's. If any other photo's exist. Pity that the spur was taken up for scrap. Do you have any plans to reinstate a section of that track with a heritage , conservation, volunteer led railway? they are very popular here in the UK. A short train ride would be a perfect end to a tour of the mines and the sounds and smells of a fired up steam train is a real crowd puller. It would be great if you could find an interested rail conservation group. It might be dreaming too big. On the other hand you might be sitting on a gold mine. Thanks for firing my imagination.

Sure. I don’t have a comprehensive picture from the air but if you google Tecopa Mines the business page has a map and I think you can do an earth view. It shows them all and if it’s man-made within a few miles of center at Columbia it’s almost exclusively mine, with BLM holding the surrounding undeveloped land.

20 miles of mine shafts. wow. that's quite a network. It would be cool to see, sometime. I'm knda claustrophobic, tho, so I don't think I'd get that far. Other than a collapse, my biggest concern with mines is the air quality, not only from hydrogen sulfide (maybe not an issue so much in the mojave desert?), but the dust from heavy metals and bat guanno?. If they were mining lead, seems like that could a real concern from long term exposure. cool area though, to call home.
