That's neat, going around a collapse, but you know what is on the other side. It would really be something if you could get into an older area behind a collapse where no one has been since it happened.

We did that down in Columbia a couple years ago when we blasted open a section that had been closed off since the arson fire of the 1980s.

Wow! That looks scary and steep! What a great full body workout. The Galina? Gallena? stone is very cool, so interesting that the weight reveals the ore content. The square set is GORGEOUS, like an MC Escher painting in real life...

There sure are a lot of big heavy timbers down those shafts preventing (sometimes) cave-ins. Wood like that today would cost big bucks- if you could find it at all. There must be some mineable ore left in that mountain but finding it is so hard and the cost of digging and digging is too high. At least it stays cool down there in the summer.

Anaconda reportedly left one whole section alone with over 50,000 tons of recoverable. There’s still plenty there.

@@tecopamines Looks like they left some dynamite there too. Great fun and excitement could be had with that stuff. Maybe you could save it for el cuatro de Julio. Let Miss Wonderhussy set it off.

Hello, my husband and I are considering moving out there. Does it flood often? If so how much? And is there an area that is better or away from the flooding that you would recommend?
@tecopamines
@tecopamines 12 күн бұрын
It doesn’t happen very often at all, hence the destructive nature of this one. Can’t really advise where to move to, but higher ground is better ideally when you don’t have even higher mountains behind you to funnel the water down on you.

Very interesting mine tour. What a huge amount of effort went into it. Lots of wood too. Amazing that the carts still roll on the tracks. Maybe Gov. Newsome could be persuaded to fund an electric locomotive and there could be high-speed rail right there in the mine! Toward the end of the mine's useful life it must have been desperation time for the miners as the mine was just played out and no money was coming in. They sure tried hard.
