Cord and Tina. I loved them. Thank you ❤️ I named my daughter after Sarah and a friend I had named Sarah, but I loved this show. I would watch this all over again if I could.

Thanks again. Poor alicia. I wish they kept her & quite a few late 80s characters. Andrea Evan's is so stunning. The show lost a step when she left.

Yeah. Andrea was breath-taking. And Gabrielle (Fiona Hutchinson) is right up there with her.

@@deejoshua7352 omg totally fiona is 100% what got me watching oltl from late Aug 89 to its cancellation. Like many soap fans their were long periods I watched then a character I loved left & I stopped. I'd always sorta knew what was going on on years I did not watch b/c everyone in my family also watched. Esp my mom. Friends watched too. If I was home & channel surfing I'd usually tune in if I was home from school. The one year I did not watch at all during oltls golden era & when I was old enough to be interested was 89 to 95. After that I enjoyed 96 to 98 . Imo 91 was a pretty abysmal year. It was when oltl was making a couple transitions. First was making the jump from the glamorous everyone is rich & lots of adventures late 80s to the more serious & socially conscious 90s. Also their producer & story creator paul Rauch left in mid 91 after 6 or 7 years at the helm. Linda Gottlieb took over as producer & hired Micheal malone & josh griffith as his right hand. Also so many characters from 89 were gone by 91. Malone created a lot of really good characters & now everyone wasnt all rich anymore as malone created east llainview & wanted to show characters really down to earth & living regular lives. Malone said one big step was making bo the police commissioner & not having him be this Rich entrepreneur who was owning things like the radio station, fraternity row & a network. Before my time bo opened a record label managing singers that's how drew was conceived , his mom becky lee was one of the artists he also managed. I bailed on the show when andrea Evan's was forced to leave b/c a stalker was after her. Then James depaiva left literally a month later. I was barely watching & only for fiona. When she left in early 91 I stopped watching almost completely just catching an episode here & there. The 90s as I said became about more real issues. The homophobia storyline in 92 & aids & a kid named billy douglas struggling to come out. Then Marty's gang rape which was pretty brutally shown & very disturbing. They really wanted the audience to see a realistic account of what a woman who was gang raped went through in the aftermath. They showed everything a victim goes through when going to the hospital Marty getting a complete examination for evidence ( many women have said they feel victimized again by having to be examined to talk about what happened & having to press charges which has to be hard b/c u have to relive They were killing off legacy characters or just having them leave. Al gabby & Duke.

@@natalieps2387 It was mainly because of the decade shift into the 90's. All of tv shifted when the "big-money" 80's was over. TV, especially dramas, adapts with society. For example, Dynasty ended in 89, and Dallas and even Knots Landing shifted in the early 90's, and were over. No more mink coats and less campiness. It was just the 80's and the Regan-Era ending.

@@deejoshua7352 , the 80s was so glamorous, romantic, and so exciting. I love it. And I never thought of OLTL in the 80s as campy. None of the soaps nor nighttime dramas were campy. I think the 90s just were more darker.

I wish they had kept Alicia, too. From what I"ve seen of her it looks like she was one of the few decent women (except Viki, Sarah and Renee) in Llanview.

Also I did see the baby switch trial but never the lead up. They made gabrielle out to be this monster & she only switched the babies to " land a rich husband " was the d.a.'s given motives. Now seeing this gabby loved Micheal & alicia as dear friends there for her. I doubt when she switched them she was thinking in that moment " oh this will land me a rich husband b/c I'll be his step mother." Look how crushed Micheal is to lose ur wife & child together is beyond horrific. I really think gabrielle freaked out how it would kill Micheal to lose the baby right after alicia. It's not ok of course it was devastating to brenda but I dont believe she switched them as a cold blooded selfish act , not sure why everyone in town & herb were saying that.
@erikandrus43873 жыл бұрын
Exactly, she wanted to prevent Michael's faith being completely shattered. Honestly the aftermath of Michael learning about the baby switch was pretty bad - he turned so violent - and honestly, I feel he should have just regressed or split his personality. This might have continued the connection between he and Viki.

Micheal was the real monster.. in fact this era had Austin Jamie Ursula and micheal....michealosing his son is no excuse to do what he did to Brenda Roger and becoming partners with Carlo freaking hesser.

I agree with you, Natalie ps.
@brynne77 Жыл бұрын
I would agree. I hadn't seen the scenes leading up to the baby-switch, either. I hadn't seen these scenes of Alicia until now. I doubt Gabrielle meant to be bad when she did what she did. I think she just kind of panicked and really cared about Michael. I think that's why she did what she did.
@aph1976 Жыл бұрын
I agree and i think if Alicia had lived Gabrielle wouldn't have switched those babies because Michael and Alicia might have been able to have other kids then.

I guess this is how the show started unraveling Cord and Tina. Cord did a 180. How did it go over with fans when he chose to be a savior to the new girl? 🤔 Poor Tina.
@romanseano Жыл бұрын
No, this had nothing to do with unraveling Tina & Cord, nor did he do a 180. Cord never had any hookup with Audrey, not even the slightest flirtation. Audrey pretty much stuck with John Russell. Tina & Cord's upcoming problems involved Gabrielle's baby switch, then the whole Crown Jewels of Mendorra saga.

That may be nice, but try telling that to someone who just lost his wife and would soon lose his baby. NOt easy to go through, I'm sure!

@@brynne77. Suppose this show was real life, and even though Michael was evil, God gave him a 2nd chance with Brenda and her baby which is exactly what he needed, but he ruined that too! Unfortunately, Michael was not deserving of Alicia, Brenda or the babies. 😥
