Love how in the midst of this heartfelt ballad, Sesame Street Writers thought to keep in mind, deaf, mute, or hard-of-hearing people. On 0:49 when Susan starts to sing, Olivia signs to Gordon, and asks what is she saying. Gordon than signs back, that Susan is singing a lullaby. Gotta love those gentle reminders, to always keep in mind, other people who may observe and feel the world differently than you. 💖💖💖💖
@puterboy24 жыл бұрын
I basically assumed Gordon was translating the song into sign for Linda.
@sakume79694 жыл бұрын
Now I’m not a total Sesame Street expert, but the black woman is Susan? Big Bird mentions later in the song that he wishes Olivia was there to sing him a lullaby, and while that’s a sweet thought, I just wanted to be sure they got the names right since it would make more sense in that moment for it to be the woman singing the lullaby I.e. Susan. :)
@atticusthetrainwizardking95082 жыл бұрын
Uh actually it was Olivia who was singing and Linda that signed to Gordon and asked what she was saying. Then Gordon signed back to Linda that Olivia was singing.

One little star, all alone in the sky Do you ever get lonely as the twilight drifts by? One little star, in the darkening blue Do you long for another just the way that I do? Sky begins to fill; darkness ends the day Someone who I love is far away. One little star, reaching far through the night Do you shine on my someone? Are we sharing your light? Oh, one little star, shine on us both tonight. One little star [one little star] Reaching far through the night [reaching far through the night] Would you shine on my someone [shine on my someone] So we're sharing your light?[please, share your light] Oh, one little star, shine on us all tonight!

I can legit photographically remember singing this song to my parents when I was like 3 or 4, while we were in an RV out in the middle of the Western US wilderness. It was one of the smaller RV's, with a bunk above the driver's cab, and I recall the windows being open, and seeing the stars through the screens. It's like it happened yesterday. Crazy how music can take you back to such exact moments in time.

I’m from the early 2000s, but I’ve watched quite a bit of Don Bluth movies. I think that the scene where Mrs. Brisby gives Timmy his medicine and the scene where Littlefoot’s mom dies are equal to this song in terms of sadness.
