Preach. The Bob Marley legacy and the empire it has become would not be the height it’s reached without the hard work of Rita Marley. She deserves way more credit, she did a lot of that as a BLACK RASTA WOMAN in the 80s. A trailblazer.

I don’t think the Jamaican people understand how powerful Rita Marley is , it’s just sad that most times we have to wait for someone to pass away before we can honour them, but you are correct she is a real trailblazer.

It was reggae music, that made Chris Blackwells fortune. Remember Millie Small Chris Blackwell started out selling reggae records from his car boot. It was a Rasta who who saw him stranded on the beach in JA and helped him to recovery. He subsequently became familiar with the culture.

Rita Marley, Ziggy Marley, the entire Marley family at large alongside friends of Bob, made sure the right representations were made for the authenticity of the film. Ms Fae Ellington was brought in to be apart of the process. She worked diligently with cast to get their accents right. 'Aunty Fae' as the cast called her did a wonderful job. Mr Neville Garrick (RIP November 2023) Bob's Art Director was on set, shared stories and gave insights on many scenes. There is a nice mix of local Jamaican artist/actors, British actors, etc that worked together well to make the film. Reggae artist Naomi Cowan ( Ms Marcia Griffiths), Lashana Lynch (British actress/Jamaican Mother plays Ms Rita Marley), Jamaican actress Anna-Share Blake ( Ms Judy Mowatt) Kingsley Ben-Adir(British Actor with Trinidadian Roots plays Bob Marley), Davo (Plays his father Mr Junior Marvin), Ashton Barrett Jr (Plays his father 'Familyman' Barrett.) Jamaican Artist Alex A - Game (as Peter Tosh) etc. It is a film that people should be proud of! - One Love

This is the best review of the trailer, and the best explanation of why Jamaicans are so worried about the outcome of this movie. Very clear, and so professionally done. I never realized until now, being reminded of cool runnings and how Stella got her groove gave people nightmares on the bad accents. I also agree Jamaicans will not have to worry, and they will have a movie they can be proud of.

Thank You for your honest review on the One Love Bob Marley Movie Trailer! Ziggy Marley was very instrumental, completely hands on in the casting process, and story telling his father's life. Cedella Marley and of course the Matriarch Rita Marley, who are all producers of the film played integral roles as well. In fact most of the Marley children were on set from time to time to show support. Ziggy personally interviewed actors In Jamaica and abroad but when he came across Kingsley Ben-Adir he knew he was the one. If Ziggy or anyone else In the family wanted Skip or any other Grandchild of Bob to portray Bob in an 'artful' way, with acting chops to carry the film, that would have been so. It has been a long road to get a Movie done about the amazing Robert Nesta Marley, so I hope Jamaicans especially and people around the World embrace the film. - One Love

Very excited about the movie. I saw Bob Marley one day when I was about 11 years.old. I though he was taking a short cut through a lane as I lived in Trench Town off West Rd. and 13th St. He must have been famous at the time why I recognized him , at that time I never thought anything about it until later. It does not matter where in the world one travel to, if there is any type of entertainment, Bob Marley music is always played. They could at least let a Jamaican actor play the role of Bob Marley. Jamaican culture, dialect is so uniquely spoken. It will be quite a turnoff, if that is not perfected. Nevertheless, l am open to see the movie.

Thank you for your feedback, I think the Jamaica movie industry is extremely under developed and because of that you don’t have alot of trained Jamaican actors. I think Skip Marley would have been perfect to play is grandfather because he looks like Bob and he sounds just like him. But I guess we just have to trust that Ziggy made the best decision for the success of the movie.

Thank you for your commentary. I'm heading to Jamaica in three weeks and am visiting Nine Miles, St. Ann. I think your thoughts and opinions are important because I want to be sure that I learn and am more aware of how Jamaicans feel about a major motion picture about Bob Marley. I am excited about the movie and had planned this trip before I knew the movie was coming out. About four months ago, I saw Ziggy in Denver and it was very emotional for many. Given how the world is, Ziggy sang songs to share that we don't worry because everything will be alright. I think everyone needed to hear it that night. I brought my friend from Ukraine. It was very powerful. I just found your video this morning while having some tea, it cannot be coincidence. It's awesome, like Bob Marley. I look forward to your review after you watch it, and before I head down to Jamaica! Thank you. :)

THANKS for your clip! I just can't wait to see the movie! I saw Bob Marley first on BBC "Old Grey Whistle Test" and he changed my world. Hey, you can be rock tight and strong as steel without shouting! Next I saw him live in Munich 1977. There I had a seat and I didn't move for one moment. The most "real" performance I have ever seen. "Real" meaning: If there had been no audience at all, Bob would have "performed" as he did. I'm really excited to see the movie! Hey, it's scheduled for release here (Germany) on my birthday. I've been around and seen the best of the best live acts. I can say that, because Marley was better than the BEST of the BEST of live acts. That's because he was not an "act". He was and still is a source of inspiration......a shaman?. I didn't "come down" until the house lights came up. So glad there are recordings that don't let us down. Signed- non Jamaican ex-profi musician.

First I would like to say respect to bob and the marley family but I find it very disrespectful for the analyst to say jamaica was built of the back of bob marley jamaica and jamaican people were always great don't get it twisted first bob did not create rasta reggae or jamaica greatness he just did his part just like every other greats jamaica was special before bob and after bob.

Thank you for your feedback. The first person to put Jamaica on the world stage was Arthur Wint with his gold medal in the 1952 Olympic and then it was Millie Small in 1964 when she became the first Jamaican to sell 1 million records but most Jamaicans don’t even remember them , but everyone knows Bob Marley he was not the first to do reggae but he was the best and Jamaica 🇯🇲 became one of the top travel destinations in the world with the tourism board one love campaign back in the 1990, so I don’t think it’s a disrespect to regular Jamaicans to say he put Jamaica on top.

I wonder how Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer are covered in this movie. Without Peter and Bunny Nesta would not have developed into Bob Marley. Peter was the religious one, and Peter and Bunny converted to Rasta when Bob was in America with his mother, and Bob joined Peter and Bunny as Rasta when he came back to Jamaica. Also there is a stream of thought among some Rastas that many musicians unintentionally spoilt the meaning of Rasta. This is because Leanard Howell, Joseph Nathaniel Hibbert, and Robert Hinds are three original and prominent figures in the development and concept of Rasta. They created Rasta as a black liberation organisation, Leonard Howell in particular was beaten, put in mental homes and went through so much in the development of Rasta. And one of the rules was that Rasta is not to mix and mingle with non Rasta, and other groups of people.

@@3Gkitchen Bob and Bunny grew up together, I think but not 💯 Bob wad 9 and Bunny 7. Bob and his mother went to live with Bunny's dad and they had a daughter Pearl together. So Bob and Bunny are step brothers. Peter had a son Andrew Tosh with Bunny's sister. The three of them was/are entwined. Peter, Bob and Bunny broke bread together, and was often hungry together. One of them said Bob was so kind he would always want them to have more than him. Bunny said it is Peter who taught him and Bob to play the guitar. And it was the three of them who formed Tuff Gong the three hands represents the three of them. One has to ask what happened. Bunny was the first to leave the group mid tour, Joe Higgs had to step in at short notice to replace Bunny. Peter stayed another year, then left. I don't think Bob's life can be told with no mention of Peter and Bunny. Individually and collectively they all was essential to who each of them developed into. They was going to make a song together again, but Bob passed so it was not to be. All three was equally great men, each one uniquely gifted and talented. I think marketability is key to success and global appeal. I hope they travel well, and join again as the brothers they was. ❤💛💚🖤

I have young kids and I find that when we introduce them to black content like Bobs music and the books that Ziggy wrote it makes them feel apart of something great. At times living in North America black kids can get lost if they don’t know that we came from a great culture and that we were Kings and Queens before slaves.
