Hello Mr. Schibe, those big rounds are a lot of work no matter how you do it on that type of splitter, but you made it through with the least amount of work I have seen, Good Work.

Nice work on the big stuff. It's so much easier watching you process it then actually having to do it. I use a fiskars to process that stuff but I have to take off smaller slabs starting from the outside

That is some nice stuff, I have to noodle that big stuff down a bit, I just can't handle that size stuff by myself but nice job, and that is a nice looking load of cherry.

My axe isn't broke, but I did take a nice chunk out of it trying to split some gnarly green maple. I need to get me a maul, if I'm going to keep cutting that stuff. All chunks and logs of huge yard monsters, so a lot of it is tough and stringy. Hard on wooden axe handles, for sure. But- it's all the free campfire wood I could want for years to come, lol. There's also some super nice honey locust, some box elder, and some dead standing- and bone dry- ash for when I don't feel like beating the hell out of myself splitting, lol. And, of course, the giant stump piece of the 2+ yr old sugar maple, if I feel ambitious. Beautiful stuff, but my bar is only 16"- and this thing is at least 30".

Can you explain how to stack your wood so high and neatly in an upcoming video. Nice looking wood!
@darryyllklarkey39642 жыл бұрын
I think it's because its oak. It typically splits beautifully straight and it's dence/heavy. Imagine stacking willow that high 😉.
@benscoles5085 Жыл бұрын
@@darryyllklarkey3964 ha, lol, and choke, it is not gonna happen, silver maple does the same, it is not strong enough to not crush under it's own weight stacked over about 3 or 4 feet tall, as it dries which is not evenly, the stack becomes more unstable yet.
@stannelson25822 жыл бұрын
Great work sir. I have found cherry if split small the straight grain stuff dries pretty quick. But it has to be stacked single row super loose. But that’s just my opinion. Good luck and it looks like your wood rich and your well set up for fall. I better you find some ash soon!

That absolutely the slowest way to spit a large round. Get the saw out and rip it down to manageable pieces and save tons of time and frustration on the splitter.

I know this was a few months ago but that's a hell of a nice pile behind you. I don't mess with anything even close to that big, automatic noodle, I'm too old for that now.Do you sell a lot of winter wood for home heat or are most of your sales through the stand as loose and bundles? I like your style dude, keep up the good work
@OutsidewithScheib2 жыл бұрын
Thanks , I sell strictly from the stand for recreational haven't had much sales through the winter we shall see how this year goes.
@garylaszewski73802 жыл бұрын
I re-watched this video, and have made additional conclusions: --- Who else on the Internet is splitting stuff as big as this? --- This is very dangerous, and quite likely will break Scheib's "Rugged Made" splitter. --- Scheib fully understands the old saying: "How do you eat an eIephant: On bite at a time"! --- I've not seen such determination. Is it heroic? Insanity? Let the viewer judge! But it is very entertaining. --- Scheib needs someone else present in case something bad happens. This is way too dangerous.

I just scored some red and white oak. I don’t have any experience with oak. I have a lot of ash, black walnut, cherry, and maple I’ve been thinning out or clearing up windfalls.That load of cherry is sweet. It’ll be dry in 4-6 mos splitting it like that.

Where there's a will there's a way. Lots of wood from just one round. I just received a letter from our Code office that I must stop selling firewood until all proper applications and permit fees are paid. What a crock, I'm small time sales compared to some of you. Just a warning to everyone out there.
