Pure genius I'm about to start on my house thanks to you I'm no longer worried about how I'm going to get the trusses up thank you for sharing this

I was soooo relieved when you got that truss over the top plate! Great effort and smart work. I have not seen a drill powered winch like that one before. Looks from the comments that you built the trusses yourself too. That's awesome. Cheers!

A beautiful example of a man looking for a way to make a difference instead of calling constantly for help from everyone around him, more people looking for ways instead of people looking for excuses ;)

You are a fellow after my own heart. I don't mind teamwork, but love the challenge of getting things done alone. There is nothing I can't do without a couple clamps and these two hands. Loved the one man technique.
@tjinnes7 жыл бұрын
I agree. I like working out how to do things without heavy machinery. Lifting trusses and beams, standing poles etc. Great fun and a challenge for the mind and body. We like to do our things with "family power." We use ropes, ramps, braces etc and do things by hand.
@julier10805 жыл бұрын
As a Tomboy who grew up alone, I learned how to get things done by myself. Leverage and inclined planes, along with the power of winches, can accomplish almost anything if you think it through. The problem with getting help is that person has to be on the same wavelength as you about how it is done, or they can slow you down and/or be a safety issue.

We raised 8-10 in a day it took 2 weeks to frame the roof with the truss building taking most of the time. I designed the trusses based on a warren truss. They did come out very solid and stiff.

if you would have just stabbed your top up first, then walked the bottom up the latter, you could have done it in one day.... also, paying a young, capable helper on the cheap would have been much better for you and the kid could have made some money.. this was hard to watch

Good job!!! What is the span between trusses along the wall? What is the height of the truss? What are the dimensions of your house? Thanks.
@BSpotBuilds7 жыл бұрын
Truss span is 24 feet they are 24 inches on center along the wall, the center wall is 16 feet high and the outer wall is 8 feet. The house is basically 54 feet long and 40 feet wide.

Nice job! Built a 3 car garage myself and understand the problem of the trusses. I wonder if it would have been easier and safer to somehow hook the cable to the bottom cord? But sitting back and looking, I cannot determine how without the cable becoming a problem at the ridge board and immensely complicated plus the out of balance concern.

I know it may seem petty, but the thing that always gets me about some videos the lack of eye protection when working with any tool and especially power tools. Have almost lost my eyes twice if it wasn't for eye protection. Both times were simple "That could never happen to me" accidents but they did. Spanner wrench and bungee cord. Just saying.
