I don’t usually comment but I have to say these episodes are the best. 2 guys talking about their love of watches, the predicaments they find themselves in and the consequence that follow. We can all relate to that but the passion that shines through on each episode❤ Shame Pete had to move to Devon as we need more!

Rich!! Very kind! Thank you as always for the support. This was a story we weren’t sure we wanted to share - but in truth, needed to be. We all go through it to some extent. And like with anything, needs to be kept in check. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

@@justin_hastMe too Justin! Also drifted in some slight temporary financial problems because of this sick hobby… Had to sell some stuff, just as Pete. What exactly did he sell this time? The AP? The Divine?

We def need a SOTC of Pete? What did he sell? What is still left besides the (I believe now) 4 Journe-watches?

@Justin Hast Congrats on the new Journe Pete! So happy for you since this podcast was my first touchpoint with the brand. All the best to you and wear it in good health! But what watch did you sell to get liquid again? The AP? The Divine?
@gregsaga6822 ай бұрын
Does he still have the yellow dial Linesport and if so does he wear the watch and enjoy it? I am on the list but have never seen it. Maybe I should have requested a dress watch instead. Thanks for your opinion.
@peterodgers62132 ай бұрын
The yellow dial, as I was wearing it when my son was born, will always stay in the collection. Is a great choice imo. You have the incredible movement and artistry of Journe, but as a daily wearer. Also despite the punchy colour, it is suprisingly versatile....good choice!

@@peterodgers6213 Thanks for the quick response. I have Rolexes, Pateks and recently picked up a 15202. I have been on the list for the Linesport for a couple of years as my first Journe and Cyril usually gets in touch once a year. Maybe next year and then possibly be able to get a dress watch.

We have similar taste, as I own a 15202 as well. Still makes me smile everytime I wear it! Best of luck with the yellow peril!

Well done again Justin. I don't like Elegant but I do like that one on the pink strap.

Adding to the pile-on in these comments - I share the same sentiments: don't jeopardise your family relationships or financial position for these trinkets. Everyone has a "blind spot" when it comes to justifying purchases or some other hobby. I'm glad I listened through as I hope I never get to this point, my wife will kill me and my kids will probably be like 99% of the real world and not care about watches ! Also you might not have to pay interest to the MIL but parents can emotionally manipulate you if you're still asking for handouts from the bank of mum and dad... What a cautionary tale !

Nice video. I am a Journe collector and attest that their boutique experience is very good. They also reward patience and are careful who they place watches with. I wear black eleg with turquoise strap. I prefer that to the pink strap

What a story! That is also an insane amount of money. I m often questioning whether im worth having even a 2000 pound watch on the wrist. Cant imagine having such a prestine watch on. I beat up my watches, and ill then buy watches that can take a beating without me crying each day. My watches are worth only some tears.

This is frankly disgusting and is not worth any admiration or discussion. A baby on the way, a house under renovation and still borrow money for…a watch? The height of irresponsibility and a caution for all folks getting into watches. They’re great but don’t let it go this far. Sorry Justin, I usually love all your work but this one just left a bad taste and could be incendiary for young collectors that are getting into the game

@@justin_hastWhat watch did Pete sell in order to get liquid again? Still waiting for the answer 😂
@peterodgers6213Ай бұрын
@ShreyamDesai Thanks for the honest feedback, as we were against time constraints I probably didn't explain myself well enough, and I really do hope it doesn't encourage others to take unnecessary risks. But Justin and I will do a follow up soon. Would just like to clarify though, the plan was to sell a watch to fund rennovations to a new house, repay small family debt, and then with the money left over, buy the Elegante. Completely agree family always comes first over any objects. And as I have pointed out to Justin due to my work, family and general life going in a different direction, I am probably not best placed to be on this pod..... as after this latest transaction I will have made money on watches over the last 22 months (I will have sold one watch to fund one watch) - not the best content for 'a watch journey'😁. So I am not someone who tends to spend beyond my means, especially with a job as volatile as mine. I think your point is a good one though, and maybe the next episode I will emphasise the importance of restraint to wait until you can afford any luxury item, something I have 'mostly' done in my collecting journey. Obviously the fact the watch I thought I had months to sell, then having a fault and then not selling in time, left me in a pickle. And what should have been a smart, well thought out process with a sale of a watch to pay off family debt, a few house rennovations and then a new (cheaper) watch turned into a stressful stupid rollercoaster ride. But I knew, the other watch would always sell, so it was just a matter of timing. Is mad what we do for our passion, as I definitely didn't need the stress. And it was a bonkers scenario to put myself in for a week or two. But I hope those listening realise that it wasn't going to be forever - and was just overall an uncomfortable sticky situation. Despite my passion for these incredible pieces that I am so previliged and lucky to own, it is never worth putting personal or family life in jeopardy. Justin and I just believed that often these escapades aren't talked openly enough in the watch world. Often ego and the pretense for 'the show' can more likely get people into money/life trouble. So hopefully these honest accounts are more relatable, and will encourage others to talk openly, which hopefully will lead to better life decisions overall - even if you can rightly criticise my decisions.
