I think Emily had the right point that these seem to be for different people. There are plenty of choices when comparing divers under £2k. I would have preferred to see the comparison between the Zodiac and the more expensive, but similar aesthetic and water resistance of the ML Aikon in white ceramic.
@AndreNavas-m6u15 сағат бұрын
Maybe best you stick to IWC. I don't know anybody who would buy either of these pieces instead of something like a Halios Seaforth or a Baltic Aquascaphe. If you must have a white watch, then get a GLXS5600-7B from G-Shock or a Sistem White from Swatch if you can find one. Happy Holidays!

I’ve owned the Serica Diver 5303 COSC for about 18 months now, and it’s proven to be an outstanding timepiece. While it may not have the summery vibe of the featured Zodiac, it excels as a rugged daily driver and reliable travel companion, thanks to its versatile bezel. I’ve moved away from the original mesh bracelet which, as mentioned, can be tricky to fasten. Instead, I opted for Serica’s rubber sports strap with pin buckle and integrated end links. For the price, I haven’t encountered a watch that matches the Serica Diver 5303 in terms of specifications and performance-it’s truly a standout piece.

My Serica sits in my watch box alongside 3 Rolex, 2 Omegas, a Grand Seiko, and a JLC Reverso-so I have a pretty solid reference point for quality watches. Yet, I find myself wearing the Serica often because it’s accurate, reliable, rugged, and looks fantastic. Beyond that, the company is led by passionate individuals taking real financial risks to create something unique and innovative. They deserve respect.

@@Flashman921 exactly. If you like something as a watch enthusiast, nothing is “junk” you can have a varied and diverse collection, not everything had to be a so called “ luxury “ watch. I’ve never subscribed to that.

Justin there’s a lot you can get for this price. Do you think this is the best watch in the £5k category as an all rounder? For you at least? I like the design I love the numerals and dimensions seem great. And yes very wearable. But so is a Casio etc. Justified in your opinion? Not a dig a genuine question. To me it feels a bit of baby bell and Ross Ok reading this back to myself I’ve got issues

Grear video, I love that you focused on independents. Thank you for including images consistently (even though it would have added to the editing time). Also, I love the more positive approach. Being negative, rude, and harsh doesn't mean honesty. For me, anyway, you both gave sincere constructive advice when needed and plaudits when required. Fantastic channel. Great human beings. Keep it up! I'm looking forward to parts 2 and 3.

Romain Gauthier, Grubel Forsey, Urban Jurgensen, Lang & Heyne, Josh Shapiro, Ressence, Krayon, Trilobe... Atelier Wen (do they count? If SU does, then so should these chaps!). Some of fhe independents need more than one watch under theirs belts (eg krayon? Peterman Bedat, Lederer, Strehler) but you guys put Rexhep and Berneron there...there are too many independents! Chaykin? Sarpanova? More affordable ones: Formex, Anordain (do they count? Or are they an enameler and not a watch maker 🤔).

Everyone classify independents differently and there's probably not right or wrong answer, but for me as an independent watch collector, studio underdog and baltic in my world are not independents but mircobrands. Not saying I am right or wrong but just my opinion. Great idea of a tier list, but I would change the title to independents and mircobrands.
@WparuSlowach4 күн бұрын
@ I agree with you and for me as well those brands (SU and Baltic) are still microbrands. To be independent you need to have production, not assembly.

Really wish everyone would stop sucking off Brew and Studio Underdog. There is beyond way too much hype for these brands, when they don’t even produce their own movements. I own 15 watches and asked my wife which 1 should I sell to make room for another, she picked the Brew Metric…

I have two Kurono's and can attest that they are the business! Incredible watches and pound for pound they punch way above their weight. IF you like the midcentury aesthetic, they are one of the top brands out there. Every detail is highly considered!

I don’t own one, but personally I think every one of their releases is a hit. I’ve salivated over their designs for years now but keep missing out. I particularly love the burgundy dial Azuki (the calendar one with gothic numerals). And as you say, if you love mid-century looking watches they’re at the top of the heap.

Sorry but no, I do agree that they are improving but only cause they are going the same path than Furlan Marri: just coping nice design from 50's Patek.... Don't get me wrong the watches are good, way better than Furlan indeed, but that's not enough

Nice content and great ranking. However, I always believe that those independents are not real watchmakers. Producing a couple of hundred watches a year with a small team and outstanding finishing does not reflect the real watch industry. You’re overpaying for hand work and if you’re lucky you’re being rewarded with multiples on your investments just based on scarcity. It’s like buying a great example of Patek 1518 for millions of dollars just based on scarcity not cuz the watch is really worth the premium.
@thedaveaftertomorrow4 күн бұрын
I own the black/orange combo of this having cross shopped with the Santos etc. It’s without doubt the most comfortable watch I own and the amount of design detail going on still surprises me 6 months into ownership. Personally I don’t mind the date window, it’s a useful complication and most of the time it disappears into the dial
