So many people aren't getting it. This was an interpretative dance, Matt was basically interpreting to us how he sees himself. We may see him as an emotionless, cold, stoic bearded man in his videos. But by doing this dance he transforms into how he sees himself as a free spirited, agile, carefree, happy , shorter, fatter low cut bearded man with slick moves in different colored jeans and shoes. This was truly magical. Bravo good sir, bravo.

Truly the communion of who we see him as and the completely different person that Matt sees himself as. How tortured an existence it must have been to hold this all back and how free it must have been for him to let it all go. This is most immediately exemplified by the quick shaving of his beard, but if you will I’d like to go deeper into this glorified transformation. The donning of his mask, his realm of safety from us seeing who he truly is, was his only companion along the way. It signifies this transformation in a way that though the mystery has been revealed to us, we may not understand it. So ethereal was this change that we might even delude ourselves into believing that he has physically become someone else. But what we have truly missed here is just that, he became who he actually is. And at this joyous moment of unity within the self, Matt had no choice but to express himself through dance and song. Thereby aligning himself with the nature of the universe. He then takes us on a journey through the familiar, showing us all the places wherein Matt as we know him inhabits everyday. However, do not be fooled, as something much deeper and more religious is going on here. For Matt as he truly is, liberated, was given divine permission to explore his actual reality as his true self. Therefore this was an exploratory venture of the self on display for all of us. And here he passed out of all thought and time, and the world of his understanding became blurred. Everyday was like a life age of the earth as he traversed the seas and the depths of his consciousness. I can only imagine what it was that Matt experienced here before the mask fell and the beard was donned again. Fortunately, his time with the communion of the cosmos was short and it’s revelations were fleeting before he was called back as we all must be. But how glorious a thing that we all were here to witness this polymerization. Where the soul partook of the tears of the stars and danced before God in holy union within the self.

Matt is so committed to giving us the best interpretive dance in history, that he trims his beard, gets a different haircut, and grows 2-inches shorter, ONLY during the dance, before finally returning to his most commonly seen form that we all know and love. Powerful. At first, I almost couldn't believe it, but then I realized that I was just projecting my own fears and insecurities because I wish I could move with such fluidity and grace. You move like a butterfly in a field of flowers. At 50, my days of moving easily are long gone and I mourn the loss. Watching you, even for such a brief time, was like a balm to my wounded soul and for an instant, the pain was lifted.

I felt like the gracefulness of that dance de-transitioned the entire trans community however briefly. Watching your male body move in such an eloquent and masculine way simultaneously opened the eyes of all men feeling like they are in the wrong body. Now they truly know what the male body can do. The dance was so graceful that your beard refused to show itself throughout the whole thing. What is a woman?.... no. What is a man; this.
