@Count Iblis : Toho denied it, stating that King Kong was the inspiration, but I agree with you (and so does pretty much everybody else who knows the real "score"). I alway felt that if they admitted it, they would have left themselves open for a lawsuit. Kong was over 20 years old at that point and a safer choice for public admission of inspiration.

Great flick! So what if it isn't SCIENTIFICALLY ACCURATE? .. . THIS flick is a FANTASY, not an ANTHROPOLOGY lesson! Try Quest For Fire or Clan of the Cavebear if you want a more realistic portrayal of pre-history. I think movies like THIS one are supposed to be taken as kind of cinematic comic-book stories, not history lessons.

Wait, this is a remake? Learn something new every day I guess. Also, seeing as I live in the UK, I'll definitely have to visit the Harryhausen foundation next time I'm in London (after the pandemic of course), thanks for bringing it to my attention. As for my favorite film of his, as much as I loved this and When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (which I saw at a very young age), my favorite film of his is probably Clash of the Titans as it sparked my love for Greek Mythology (I was honestly disappointed with Jason and the Argonauts in terms of its story).

Jack - - - 95% of this video is absolutely wonderful. I truly appreciate that a guy your age is such a big appreciator of Ray Harryhausen's work. I am too. Kudos to you for that. _However_, at the risk of sounding like an old "fuddy duddy", I feel compelled to say something here... I knew Ray Harryhausen. He and Mrs. Harryhausen were absolutely classy people and I can tell you (with no uncertainty) that he would not like being called Ray "effing" Harryhausen, even if in your mind it was done in awe and respect. I can appreciate that. However, I know I can safely say that he would not have cared for the crass language you have interjected here and there through out this video for effect, as it sets a very bad example for young people. Most of it comes out of "left field" when it does and it diminishes your position an respectable individual. It makes you come off like an overly enthusiastic fan boy with no manners, and I can sense that you are not one of those. Ray was a father and knew the value of setting a good example for the young ones. He would have appreciated this much more without the boorish portion of your dialogue.I hesitate to even mention this because the rest of you video is outstanding, but your harsh language is inappropriate for the subject matter. It ruins the whole impact here and I should think that you would know better. _All_ of Ray's films were for a family audience. This sort of posting will... and should attract kids. Ray would have wanted this, as he loved it when children that were way too young to have ever seen any of his films in their original releases came up to him at conventions to tell him how much they appreciated his movies and creatures. Go ahead and let loose to base inclinations if you must in reviewing something like Tarantino's or Herschell Gordon Lewis' films (no disrespect to those men, but kids shouldn't be watching their films anyway). But, when you do one of these on *The Valley of Gwangi* or anyone of Mr. Harryhausen's other films, _please_ refrain from the "F" bombs and the other vacuous language usage. Just because there is a KZbin Kids doesn't mean that they are going there exclusively. When you were a young child, would you have? Of course not. You wanted to be where the ultra cool stuff is like any other kid would... and that is what many of them are doing right now. You have an opportunity here to positively influence them into appreciating this "great stuff" and they will look up to you for it. _PLEASE_ set a good example as any responsible adult should do. I don't want to anger you and realize that this may be off-putting. It is probably too late for this video, unless you can go back in and "bleep" yourself (which I realize may be impossible), but please have some decency and decorum in the future. Don't do it for me. You can tell me to go stuff it if you want... I don't care. Do it out of respect for Ray Harryhausen and your love of his work. You appear to be a guy with taste and a great passion for these _great_ movies of the past. Please be respectful and a positive role model for the youngsters that you can inspire to enjoy and grow to love Ray Harryhausen's films, like we all do. Stephen Sondheim wrote: Careful the things you say Children will listen Careful the things you do Children will see And learn My rant is over... thank you for your attention and I also thank you in advance for your understanding. BTW, you got some facts completely wrong here and there, but I won't try your patience any further right now pointing them out. Maybe someone else will. Thank you for your time and attention and I wish you continued success in your endeavors. •

there is also the small matter of the QUALITY of the sculture models used. NOT made by Ray himself, but by Arthur Heywood, of the Natural History museum London England (there was a small piece about him hear on you tube, and how he Made his plaster moulds & latex skin for the Dinos). I don't think the Dinosaurs in VALLEY OF GWANGI are too shabby either, equally as good I would say in fact.

I can't agree about this being the best Harryhausen film That would have to go to JASON AND ARGONAUTS, and 7th VOYAGE, why? because they have more story layers & are less superficial, BUT the visual fx as usual, are 2nd to none IN ONE MILLION, if we talk about the best dinosaur films, I would have to say-KING KONG's 1933 and 2005 version also for reasons of story. Some of the faults I find with ONE MILLION are- Raquel Welch. plus (& this maybe a minor point but John Richardson visually for his male model looks) his...father in the film looks much more the part with his ugly cave man like thick features. but is unlikely to have a son looking like that the giant turtle didnt really work, not like the crab did in MYSTERIOUS ISLAND BUT one million yrs bc. is better Directed then JURASSIC PARK I thought. the very recent 65 MILLION was a pleasant surprise to for originality
