Berata said he had "A gut wrenching conviction". Same for me. I will always be vegan. I could never go back. It isn't about me at all. Thank you Jeff for another excellent interview. And Berata's poetry is beautiful and profound. I hope he will have his poetry published in book form. I would buy many copies and give them to friends and strangers.

I never thought i would become vegan. Two years ago I had strange out of nowhere nudges to quit meat. Then I broke out in hives that didn’t go away was on four antihistamines a day. I researched it and found all these people who quit meat and healed. I began vegan cold turkey and my hives went away in two days. Then i researched veganism and industrial farming. I love animals and could not bear to see such cruelty. That sealed the deal for me. Never felt better.

Wow I wonder if you had been bit by a tick, I don't know if what you had were the kind of symptoms from alpha gal or not but maybe. When you get bit by that tick you become allergic to meat.

Probably like most vegans I know who have been doing it a long time I would imagine he's not taking any medications and doesn't have any ailments. I've asked that question a lot in other interviews and that's so often the case that I haven't as much these days. While being on a well-planned vegan diet you can reduce your risk more than any other way for chronic disease, there's much more that goes into It than just diet. That's why The American College of Lifestyle medicine has six pillars of Health such as not doing drugs, stress Management, social support, sleep, exercise and nutrition. People literally reverse chronic diseases with this way of eating and living. I've been on the road for 2 and 1/2 weeks doing interviews and stopping at a lot of Vegan restaurants. There's a pattern that you will see when I start releasing these. These restaurant owners start because they reversed their chronic disease. I started noticing the pattern a few interviews in and it just kept happening. The restaurants I stopped at in Kansas, Iowa, Chicago, Michigan, Ohio, reversed their colon Cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, ulcerative colitis, myasthenia gravis, etc.

Great and very wise man/poet! I find it quite amazing that such a passionate vegan is with a non vegan partner. My wife and I both agreed neither of us could ever be with a non vegan partner again.

It reminds me of Annette Larkins. Have you seen her? She looks amazing for her age! Her husband looks pretty rough though. She's been vegan for a long time and looks like an angel, she's probably in her '80s now. I don't even know if her husband's still alive. Hopefully Barata has more of an influence on his wife than Annette has had on her husband.

@@VeganLinked - no hadnt heard of Annette - just looked her up - amazing! Yes, I also have a vegan friend that lives nearby. She is from the UK, in her 60's, is quite active in some local vegan groups and apparently her mother was one of the early vegetarian trailblazers many years ago in the UK. Her long lived dogs are plant based, however her long time husband isnt vegan! Which my wife and I find astounding!

I know him. Great guy, he shops at my job. Super cool, down to earth guy. He helped me consider then transition into a vegan/plant based lifestyle.
