I agree with you on spectral. If you're using it just because you can I don't think it's helping but if you're using it because you heard a problem it's great!

Presets could be useful to save an EQ curve for your studio, your microphone and a particular vocalist ... so that when they come back you can pull that back into your next session.

I agree with you. As it's always me singing, in the same place, through the same mic, it's useful to start with and time-saving.

Hi Mike, thanks for your carefully considered review. I do use some of my own saved presets, as they are specific to my setup and get me in the right ballpark quickly; however, I agree that it's nonsense to have non-specific presets like Lead Vocal! I haven't seen anything here that would make me want to upgrade from my ProQ3, which is brilliant, very user-friendly, and does what I want to do with minimum fuss. I hope the new studio B is living up to your expectations?🤞

I'm still glad I upgraded to 4. There's certain things I did in Pro-MB that I can do while correcting EQ without opening another plugin so it's a win for workflow.

In general I take presets as a suggestion. If they work roughly, I start finetuning. If they don't work, I toss them out, pick another or do it manually. I treat those as tools. Fabfilter looks pretty good. But I am glad they are too good for me, they are way over my head. Because of that, I do not need to justify myself to spit out that much money. The cheap ones are good enough for me.
