After spending one month with the 2022 Asus ROG Flow X13 I must say it was one of my favorite laptops if you are looking for a thin and light laptop that packs substantially more power than your average ultrabook. It has great battery life and solid performance. The build quality feels and little on the light side but it is magnesium alloy.

The Flow X13 just is so much better with the XG Mobile. Without it, the port suite is bad. What people forget is how portable the XG Mobile is _with power supply integrated._ Power bricks for performance laptops weigh around 0.7kg to 0.8kg. The XG Mobile at 1.2kg is an XL power brick. The Flow X13 + XG Mobile is 2.5kg, whereas the Zephyrus G14 + power brick is 2.36kg. The carrying bag bundled is designed to hold both the X13 and the dock. For only slightly more weight, you get the 12GB 6850M XT over the 8GB 6700S/6800S on the go. The 6850M XT has 96MB Infinity Cache and 40CU@2463Mhz (vs. 32MB and 28CU@1890Mhz/32CU@1975Mhz on the 6700S/6800S). On battery power, you won't get very far dGPUing either way. For maximizing plugged-in portability, the Flow X13's 100W power brick is like 1/3 the weight, which is just enough to power the 40W 3050 Ti. Having a one-connector solution to take the X13 to go, while all your desktop monitors/peripherals are connected to the XG Mobile is also very convenient. Of course, you do have to pay more for that 6850M XT. The 2022 Flow X13 + 2022 XG Mobile bundle is $2,199 on Asus U.S. right now vs. the various deals on conventional gaming laptops.

They're supposed to be marketed to entry-level content creators so I always found it strange that they never send you those. Thanks for the review and great timing on this as I'm about to pull the trigger and buy one of these. I was surprised by your 300 nits comment, because it is advertised at 500 nits (This is the FHD 120 Hz option). I am also a bit concerned by the battery comments. I was hoping I can watch around 5 hours worth of video on flight mode with high brightness cos you can get quite a bit of glare in airplanes. Price point wise, where I live the G14 retails for around 50% more, so its not really much of an either or comparison. I regularly go back to my home country and its a real pain carrying work laptop, personal laptop and tablet. Recently I've been leaving my personal laptop behind and this can be quite restrictive. So I want something thats super flexible for travelling, gaming, browsing on the coach, storing my files etc. I have a steam catalogue I want to get through and it seems like this laptop can play most of the games I want without the XG mobile. I don't have a desktop PC, so maybe next year I'll be the XG mobile and I'll be able to play AAA games on top of this. Though I've yet to see the XG mobile being sold on its own here...

I had a laptop with 300nits brightness before. That's how bright the X13 2021 models get. The X13 2022 has 500nits and I can confirm that it is significantly brighter than my old 300nit laptop. If you want a 13" 2in1, this is the most powerful laptop there is. The 2023 model seems to be getting a big upgrade too. 60W GPU instead of 40W, 120W charger instead of 100W. Note that there are a few common issues with this laptop, that can be quite annoying. Check the Flow X13 subreddit for more details.

I found some one in different forums with my same issue and seems to be drivers issue, but I want to ask you too. I experience delay on typing. When I start to type on the keyboard there is an initial delay and some initial letters are skipped. If I press just one key, there is a delay and then it start to repeat like it's held pressed

I noticed you test how fast your laptops can export 9 minute 4k videos in Premiere - but is there a specific project you use? If there is a specific project/video you use, are you willing to share it? I don't know how fast my current laptop is compared to its successor (Galaxy Book2 Pro 360) and others like the Vivobook Pros. Mine's older but has a low level GPU.

Hello Ben, as a fellow own of X13 2023 model, I want to ask a few questions; after using it for a bit, I've decided to do a clean reinstall of pro edition with my own key, but after that some weird problems seemed to occur: 1. After reinstalling, discrete GPU (GTX4060) became GPU0 instead, and GPU1 is now 780M integrated card. 2. When in standard/mixed mode (advanced optimus), the GTX4060 seems to be still producing heat (and causing fans to turn on thus draining battery), compared to eco mode. Should that really be the case? If so, I feel like it's a weird move on Asus's part to make eco mode unusable without turning on Optimus (thus rendering MUX switch inoperable), since now you'd have to manually turn advanced optimus on/off in Nvidia control panel. I'm not sure if these characters existed before my reinstall, or my reinstall messed something up. What is it like on your side? I hope I can get an answer.

I bet you that you're missing some sort of Asus suite that can pull the customized drivers from the Asus sites. Some of these laptops need those suites to make its synergistic components to work better. Clean installations are nice... until you come up with missing drivers and app's.

I bought an Asus Rog Flow X13 gaming laptop, I've read about the topic of voltage, and truth be told, I'm paranoid to know if it can harm my system or not. Everything is updated to the latest version of BIOS, Nvidia graphics card, AMD graphics card, and all drivers in general. So far, everything is working perfectly, except I notice that the battery doesn't last very long. And some strange screen flickers that went away when I turned off hardware acceleration in the BRAVE browser. In summary, have you done any reviews or do you have any advice about the X13, please? Probably better, since the R9 6900HS is an insane CPU and the RTX 3050 Ti isn't that far off from the 3060 which is the best for the price range (around 15% less performance than the 3060)

Isn't this supposed to have a 550+ nits peak brightness with the 120 Hz panel? Now I'm kind of torn about it. Maybe your unit is defective or gimped in some capacity? I was planning to get this for on-the-go document work, browsing, light gaming and running some PyTorch AI apps necessary for my work. I care about the screen, portability and power consumption the most. It also needs to have Linux support, and I heard this device has excellent Ubuntu and Debian distro supports, both on hardware and driver level. I absolutely detest Surface laptops and all Apple products, so the choices are very limited. HP Elite Books with 6800u are also very nice, but on the expensive side in my country; about %25 more expensive than the X13 with 3050 Ti, to be specific. Maybe I'll save some more to get the Flow X16 with the mini LED display, as I heard many people singing its praises, and I heard that it's got the best true HDR laptop screen ever. Maybe it's a hyperbole, but I will definitely give Flow X16 a try before I commit to any purchase.

@@an_g3l You are welcome, in our company we had same dilemma, after wasting almost 4k we understand that ram in many architecture software (archicad, sketchup, revit) is fundamental. 32gb is perfect, 64gb it's needed if you work seriously with big files.

-just received this laptop (full hd, rtx3050, w/o the xg mobile) yesterday, thanks to ben for his convincing unboxing video. too bad i didnt get to see this video first before buying. but it doesnt make my comment say that i regret having this laptop. tbh im pretty loving it up to this point, and im still in my first 23 hours of usage, so not a lot to comment on for the time being. creative editing isnt the reason why i bought this, but more to a portable gaming experience as i couldnt play on my pc back at home when im on the go. hopefully rtx3050 is enough for my dota 2/football manager/cities skyline/fifa23 gaming and the battery lasts

I'd put it in Tent Mode, plug in a xbox style controller and game on it. 3050ti might sound anaemic for gaming but people make do with Steamdeck or Asus Ally. This is 2 tiers above that, while still being extremely portable. However for me it is up against the GPD WIN MAX 2 which is considerably smaller still but dosn't have that 3050ti chip. So while it will game fine it won't be the 1080p experience more like 800p, but then again the screen is a lot smaller so it dosn't need it! I won't be using dongles or XG Mobile. If i was i'd rather just get a bigger machine.

Sounds like you're applying a lot of larger laptop requirements on the x13. A lot of it sounds like a guy wanting larger boot space while comparing a motorcycle to a... car. For most portability requirements, you probably don't need that many peripherals connected. Presentations? HDMI + usbc charger + thumbdrive connected at the same time. Not sure what else you need. Portable productivity? Probably just a wireless mouse. Light gaming? It's on. X/Z13's definitely not the laptop for you. My main issue would be the reflective screen. I do a lot of my work outside now, and reflection is an issue.

Im an architecture stucent, got an Asus M16 (2022, i9 with 3070Ti) and for now im super happy - very mobile, very powerful, beautiful design and one of better things > beautiful 16" qhd display thats amazing to work on it (autocad, rendering etc)
