If you play tournament, then doing these destruction moves can unlock ceretain upgrades to your robot's special moves after having fought secret opponents (mostly unlocked by doing destruction moves on certain normal opponents during tournaments, although some challenge you without that prerequisite). Your technician, after the battle, will say something about finding an upgrade in the wreckage "you left behind". For example, Jaguars concussion cannon can have up to three shots. Electra electricity ball can go up to three as well. Etc. Only Nova does not receive any upgrades for his moves. Lastly, only the highest difficulty will have you run into ALL secret fighters. Lower difficulties will have most of them show up, but not all. There is for example Eva LongEar, from the Jazz Jackrabbit game (also from Epic, like OMF). If you perform a destruction on her, then immediately after the fight Jazz challenges you to avenge her.

This is in single player mode and only on the fire room map. You have to beat Fire and then Ice, which are fully upgraded tournament HARs and are very difficult to beat. If you beat them you get an upgrade. The tournament mode does have secret fighters, but you don't unlock upgrades from them. You just make a lot more money by beating them.

@@TehButterflyEffect Correct on the Fire and Ice thing. However, as I explained in my previous post, you *do* get upgrades from beating secret opponents in tournament mode. I should have added that it's only with certain secret characters, and only if you perform destruction moves on them after having defeated them. All the others net you extra money, indeed.

@@Alamandorious The problem with Shadow is that his SHADOWS can be hit and that deals damage to him and hit stun him. If that didn't exist, then he would be an amazing Robot! One Must Fall 2097 may be an old game but there are still underground tournaments held around it if you search well enough and let me tell you, he's at literally at the bottom of the Tier-List.

Amazing! I remember that we played this game 30 years ago with my brother and literally one time an enemy Shadow performed the destruction move. We were so confused and had no idea how to recreate it! In the later years we thought that maybe we hallucinated as kids lol XD It's great to finally see it! :D

I've played this game since it came out... Yes i still play it. To this day the only finishing moves I've managed to pull off are Jaguar, Katana and Shredder. They get progressively harder to pull off.

I realized I recorded all of this with Snow Checking On. Hence why the footage is slower in most situations (especially Shadow's animation). Therefore I have to redo all of this again, If I ever find the time for it, I might as well also try recording the Fire & Ice segments.

Tbh, feels a lot like the Scrap moves are just the Destruction moves without the final finisher. I've only seen the Jaguar's Scrap move, but with that in mind, it feels like you can spot the moment a Scrap move becomes a Destruction move if you look carefully: Jaguar: doesn't jump before dumping its opponent. From here, these are just my guesses based on what is shown in the video of what the Scrap moves might be: Shadow: Likely doesn't use the big shadow. Thorn: Hard to tell, but likely similar to Jaguar in that it likely doesn't toss the opponent first. I could be wrong though. Pyros: My best guess, stops after the first five or so hits. Electra: Likely doesn't summon the big lightning bolt. Katana: Another one that's hard to tell, but I think it does only the one slash instead of two. If there was only ever one, it doesn't make a motion to shield itself. Shredder: Likely doesn't throw the opponent after the initial drilling. Flail: I think it only rams the opponent once. This feels like the most obvious move where you can see the transition from Scrap to Destruction. Gargoyle: My guess is that it only does the initial dive-bomb. Chronos: Based on what I see, I think it doesn't re-materialize its arm before yanking it out of the opponent. Nova: Likely doesn't go for the final uppercut.

Gotta love the Jag with all tournament enhancements. Triple jag leap into overhead throw, triple concussion cannon, shadow jag leap into overhead throw, maybe I forgot something... Gotta say though I think Electra has the best finisher

It can only be done as soon as you win all rounds, as soon as the opponent stops bouncing. Everyone has a different move and timing. I suggest Robyrt's guide which is the most complete.

It's basically a kind of fatality equivalient . . . one (scrap metal) beats the opponents corpse, but that leads to destruction, which basically destroys the opponent (both increase your score if playing the solo campaign).

I know the enchantments on Jaguar are extra bolts fired (3max), and enchantments on katana are extra swings with its blades, katana can also get the fireball throw, and shadow can freeze, but I don’t know the other robots’ level three enchantments, do you guys know what they are?

Fire and Ice refers to secret character fights in the Story mode, accessible only at higher difficulties via the use of Scrap+Destruction moves after defeating an enemy in the Fire Pit arena. Do a search for detailed FAQs regarding One Must Fall 2097 secrets.

Nah, the robots are basically remote controlled by the pilot. They're strapped into a kind of device that projects their consciousness into the robot, but it disconnects when their robot is knocked out. So this doesn't hurt/kill the pilots.

The moves yes, the same, but the different reaction of the "victim" - while other robots just falls aparts/explodes, Electra also unleashes a huge electric discharge during some "fatalities". He wanted to highlight that the game authors payed attention to the different matter of this robot (Electra) and made unique "explode" animation: "discharge+explode"
