The meaning of Saint's Pilgrimage IS the pain, it IS suffering and toiling away until all has been ascended from the world. One can hope that one day it will be done no matter how many cycles it will take, they have done so much already and we can root for this creature, so fragile and powerfull all at the same time. Does Saint actually go back to before they ascended everyone and repeat? I thought Saints ending was that it ascended all living creatures and even the iterators but ultimately that determination and attachment to saving everyone turned it into an echo, unable to ascend.

when you store an item in your stomach and complete the ending, you keep the item. This is intentional and also lets you see moons quotes for items found in the void rooms

I don't think so, since you start the campaign with two karma and end it with zero karma. This would imply it isn't a time loop, since you aren't in the same state at the end of the game as you are at the start, and it would be impossible to beat the game at zero karma since there wouldn't be enough echoes to reach max karma.

Honestly my game theory as to why Saint does this is that they have become so mad and furious about the cycle that they want to punish the ones who made it in the first place, or at least the ones keeping it running and out of all the beings we see in Rain World, Gerry as we've come to call him is the closest we have and likely safest bet for being the creator or maintainer of the cycle. And if Gerry is either of those, it would also go a long way to explaining why not only did Saint's blast not work, they also punished Saint for trying.
