*Analysis on One Nation One Election* In most democracies across the world there are two houses and with different ways to get people elected to them and might have different tenures for it's members. States might have different election schedule to the schedule of the Federal / Central govt. This has been designed on purpose to collect anti incumbency of the federal government so that if the people are unhappy with the Federal govt mid course of the tenure, all powers will not be vested with the same party. There will be a check and balance created. When the federal government is popular, then it will strengthen the govt and when it is unpopular it will weaken the govt. This happens in the US with Senate and Congress having different ways to fill them and different tenures. The same in India with Loksabha and Rajyasabha with different ways to fill them and different tenures. Even if a citizen believes that a particular leader is good and we can do with one nation one election, We cannot afford to change the system keeping one person in mind. Men may come and men may go but systems are for longer periods. So the excuse of saying that we can reduce cost by having one election for federal and state government is a flawed theory at the cost of not collecting anti incumbency. This is dangerous. Let our political affiliations not cloud our thinking and let us not be a party to dismantling a system which is established and proven. Please pass this on if you agree with it. Can you go back to the old system after dissolving the assembly? Is it a thing of trail and error? If politicians are occupied with power, why do they want to capture more power? Allow others who are free to do that job. This is for a handful of politicians to manage their own time

We have One election policy before 1965. Present situation is due to the indiscriminate undemocratic way of dissolving Opposition Party Ruling states under Article 356 for more than 80 times during Congress dynastic ruling period. Congress party cadres are thinking that world is foolish, and shamelessly taking class on Democracy.

How was the election pattern in India immediate after independence. What causes the chaos in the conduction of elections regularly. President rule, defection,hung assembly (coalition government) resignation,death of elected representatives, seasonal(rainy, hot, cold) and festivals. Then what is the purpose of full time Election commission. One election in a financial year within the span of 4 weeks with maximum 4 shedule voting to reduce the disadvantages and disturbance in public life, industrial production, economic and travel regulations as well to reduce the burden in public exchequer and public administration.

One nation one election is not a good democratic practice. The central and state elections are to be held separately with a gap of two years. Parliament and assembly time has to be reduced to four years. Similarly local bodies period must also be reduced to four or less number of years. Actually there is a good need to bring a lot of electoral reforms.

But I dont think the opposition will agree, because they dont want any good thing to happen in India.

One Nation, One Election may substantially help reduce the overall election expenditure. It may also help reduce corruption by political leaders, competitive offering of freebies by political parties including bribing voters. This system may also marginalise some of the undesirable parties and favour growth oriented manifestos. Overall it may demand more responsibility from the political parties.
